Zammo Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Hi all Looking to do some re-wiring in the server room and therefore purchase some new CAT6 patch cables in various lengths Can anyone recommend a particularly good place to get quality cable from? The last batch I got from amazon was not well made, probably okay for workstations but not at the core of our network. Thanks
Blue_Cookeh Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 We just buy them premade from Insight, sort low to high, pick the cheapest cable of the length/colour we want. Insight
PotNoodleTech Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 (edited) Yeh same here, Amazon is full of unknown rubbish, order from a large reputable supplier, BT Business Direct, Misco, Millgate, etc and you should have no probs - I've ordered many hundreds from these companies over the years. Oaktech Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Comms express are good. I'm also pleasantly suprised at how good toolstation's network cables are if you're in a hurry!
Davit2005 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Have you seen PatchSee cables, we've been using them for 4+ years with no problems?? They are awesome if you have cabs full of cables and need to trace them from patch to switch, no need for the special torch, you can use anything with a light i.e. phone :-) . They have the length printed on ends and you can buy removable colour clips.
IrritableTech Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Comms Express Fruity Cables Or recently I've had some decent quality Cat6a cables from Kenable - cheap too.
Danp Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Just bought this for our summer works http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GQHO3W6
Gaz Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 If it says CCA in the description run a mile. I wouldn't buy any category of ethernet from Amazon or Ebay, its cheap for a reason. Not in My Network! Copper Clad Aluminum is a Recipe for Failure 1
fiberoptics Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Nothing out of the ordinary, we bought Fiberstore CAT6 patch cables and they worked immediately and flawlessly. They can be customized in various lengths at the lowest price I have ever found on the web.
Guest obsidianpillar Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Excel. We use it here and if you look on eBay you can get 300m lengths for around £50.
