Upgrading to Win10

Hi,

 

We are looking at upgrading all of our PC's to Windows 10.

 

I was just wondering what is the easiest way to do this? Can we deploy it from a server to all of the client machines?

 

We are currently on Win7 Pro and want to upgrade to Win10 pro.

You can download it from the Microsoft website or if you have access to your Microsoft licensing portal where you can download the latest Office suite and windows which you can then download the iso file and use some software free from Microsoft to download it to a usb pen

 

If it was me I would do it via usb, as it would be a a smooth process

If you run the windows 10 setup.exe on a windows 7 machine, with no unattend file on any drive (removable or otherwise) it should go through the free upgrade process.

 

According to https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/home_is_where_i_lay_my_head/2015/09/14/windows-10-setup-command-line-switches/ there's a switch to automate it, not got that working yet

If you would like a file to automate through WDS I have one ready, make sure you use WAIK to configure to your need

the issue is getting the free upgrade. There is some stuff in WSUS about Windows 10 upgrades, but not sure how they work

If your going through a proxy and getting WSUS problems then set the system proxy with this command

 

To show proxy- netsh winhttp show proxy

 

Set proxy if not set - netsh winhttp set proxy Proxy address:Port

 

This should work for you
