AlfaTech Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Do you still play retro games, what were your favourites? I'm currently playing through an emulated Gameboy Advance classic on my phone - Rebelstar Tactical Command - which I totally missed the first time around. It was written by Julian Gollop in 2005 and is essentially X-Com on the GBA, complete with the original difficulty curve of the old school X-Com games. Even so I do play the classic PC version of X-Com Enemy Unknown in a browser from time to time too. Edited June 17, 2016 by AlfaTech
Duranis Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Yeah I still play old games. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced on the GBA (emulated on my DS and phone) is still one of my favorite games. My and my boys are currently playing through the original pokemon game as well (on phones). One of the summer holiday projects I want to do with my youngest is to set up a Pii 3 "emulator console" for our living room.
AlfaTech Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Me and my boys are currently playing through the original pokemon game as well (on phones). Hehe yeah I played through Leaf Green and Fire Red the other day on my phone, get a good emulator and you can trade via bluetooth. I'm also currently playing through a Pokemon hack called Pokemon Dark Rising, it's a full fan made game using the GBA emulator. It's brilliant but also very very difficult and follows a more 'adult' story line/language.
Sagima Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Every time I've gone back to an old (I'm setting this in the 80s-90s) game I've been disappointed - somehow it just isn't as fun anymore. Examples of disappointment from the last 2 years: Bards Tale 1, Frontier:Elite 2, Bloodnet, Pool of Radiance and The Settlers I pin my hopes on modern remakes/continuations of them now - come on bards tale 4!
Garacesh Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I still own a PS2 slimline and plenty of PS1 games.. MediEvil, Crash Team Racing, Spyro, Metal Gear Solid.. Ah, those were the days. Most PS1 games didn't age very well, but certain gems are still great.

LeMarchand Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Yeah I still play old games. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced on the GBA (emulated on my DS and phone) is still one of my favorite games. Couldn't get on with that when it was new! Currently playing "The Dig" bought with a load of other LucasArts games of the same era.
Garacesh Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Remember this gem? I do not I can't count the amount of games I've suddenly remembered existed, purchased them on eBay, fired 'em up and gone "Wow.. Nostalgia goggles only worked on memories..."

DJ-1701 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Or or or THIS!!! When I saw the name... this just popped into my head...
hardtailstar Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I still use my Gameboy colour. Currently playing Championship Motocross 2001.
Duranis Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Dizzy!!!!!!!!!!! I both love and hate the Dizzy games. I honestly don't think I have played them as an adult but I remember spending hours on them as a kid/teen trying to figure out how the hell to get past certain bits. I played 2 or 3 of the and don't think I ever completed any of them.
AlfaTech Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Dizzy!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant, I was going to get a speccie emulator for something but I'd forgotten what. Yeah I definitely want to replay the Dizzy games again I still use my Gameboy colour. Currently playing Championship Motocross 2001. Awesome! I've still got my old original GB, good to hear that yours is getting some use.
