Was it just me or was "Knock Knock" a really great spooky classic Dr Who episode that just fell flat at the end with it's rushed explanation, plot revel and everyone was miraculously restored as the place came down?

 

Anyway, onto more interesting things. So who is in the vault? And did anyone else get the reference to "Grandfather stealing a bit of the Great Wall"? So many nods to both old Doctor's and old assistants in this series, clearly can't be a co-incidence.....

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. Really nice tension-builder, and the twist about the landlord was unexpected and a really nice touch. But it still felt a bit rushed, and I can't say I'm too impressed with the special effects on the lady at the end, nor the hand-wavy happy ending. I'd suggest it was from backlash about unequivocally having a child die in the last episode, but these are recorded months in advance, so it's unlikely.

Not everyone, the previous tenants were not restored.

Another great episode. Funny, just as Capaldi announces his departure I'm really liking him as The Doctor.

 

Anyway, onto more interesting things. So who is in the vault? And did anyone else get the reference to "Grandfather stealing a bit of the Great Wall"? So many nods to both old Doctor's and old assistants in this series, clearly can't be a co-incidence.....

I'm leaning toward The Master being in the vault (John Sim incarnation). No reasoning behind that though!

Im sorry, but you are clearly mistaken. Even the advent of davison does not make any scene with the legendary Baker a contender for the worst in any league tables.

What I had issue with here was the idea of The Watcher. He came out of nowhere, no explanation and never referred to again [No attempt to explain his presence]

It hasn't happened yet, though! Unless Moffat is going out with a big two finger salute to all those people who want a "young/sexy" or female/trans black Doctor by leaving Chibnall with David Bradley playing William Hartnell's version. Bradley must have some spare time now that "The Strain" has wrapped up filming its final episode.

Good plot, not too complicated. Decent acting all around - the whole episode was basically one long regeneration scene and I'm fine with that.

 

I liked what they did with the Masters, and comic book rules should certainly apply there. I'm also not certain that Missy is the regeneration immediately after Simm's Master, so there's scope to broaden things there later on.

 

I was annoyed that we did not get to see the next doctor at all this episode, I'd thought that would've been it. However, I'll be more than happy to watch it in the christmas special knowing that they're bringing the 1st Doctor back, by the looks of it they've done it well too!

 

I did kinda wish they'd just left Pearl in her cyber-state, a lesson that being the companion is a very dangerous occupation indeed! I'm not usually a fan of Deux ex Machina to get somebody out of trouble - you'll use it all too often if you're not careful - but in this case, they set it up in the very first episode of the series, and it was suitably clever so I'll let it slide.

 

A great series overall, certainly my favourite of the Capaldi era.

Didn't enjoy this series at all, I think Capaldi has killed the Dr for me. Hopefully I can get back into the next series.

Like @ICTDirect_Dave I really enjoyed this series. In fact his comments are pretty much what I was thinking. I didn't get on with Capaldi's first series, but this one kept my interest.

 

There were so many hints that a future Doctor would be female. Not a problem for me that we have no idea who the next Doctor will be yet.

I've noticed the older viewers tended not to like the current series where as the younger(ish) viewers loved it.

 

On the various places where i speak to speak about 'Who it's normally people 40+ who don't like it where as people under 40 love it! (obviously not saying everyone over 40 hated it but the majority i've met have)

 

For me personally, i think it was the best Nu-who series. Capaldi has cemented his place as my 2nd favorite Doctor (no beating Pertwee i'm afraid!)
