Steven_Cleaver Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 No problem you can also now download and try BCX tools now for trial which you couldn't do until recently so worth a test
Norphy Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Can you talk about those other features? All we have ever had was Impero. What is the difference in ABTutor and the Impero features? What other programs had those features take care of? Sorry for all the questions, we've never had anything but Impero. Thanks! AB Tutor is pretty much a classroom management only solution. So remote monitoring, blocking of websites in classrooms by teachers, presentations, etc etc etc. Impero tries to be a lot more. It has modules for software deployment, printer management, power management, e-safety, patch management, inventory, auditing and more besides. Most of this stuff we already had covered with products like SCCM, Papercut etc so we didn't give a flying fig about them, we just wanted the classroom management features and Impero refused to sell us a product with just that. Someone else mentioned RM Tutor in the thread, RM Tutor is a rebadged (and possibly out of date) version of Netsupport School.
Tefters Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) Net support here, easy to setup, deploy and manage. Used 30% of the time by faculty, we use it on the rare occasion but use SCCM remote control 90% of the time for tech support. PS. We only use the support for classroom management by the teacher. FragglePete Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 We've recently moved to BCX tools and will be using it in anger from September, and it really is superb, however you still need a monitoring solution and it's just a shame Impero are having so many problems. Daily I'm dealing with issues even after they've remoted in and taken a look at the server. It seems they fix one problem and introduce many others and at the same time try to introduce new features. We renewed back in April, but I reckon it could be the last year that we do. I'm waiting patiently for a something that is arriving in October but will start looking at other stuff in the meantime.
speckytecky Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 I just wish someone at Impero would get a proper grip and restore the reputation of the company to where it was before things started to fall off the wagon. For what it's worth I still have great faith in the product but feel it's an embarrassment that the reputation is being left to tarnish. It won't be long before someone comes in and steals their market of loyal followers. 1
free780 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I would avoid NetOp. I had a lot of problems with it. ABTutor seems to be fine. Though they do insist on being on version 8 for Windows 10.
ninjafish Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 We used to use netsupport but are moving to abtutor in September as it is loads cheaper and is a great product. The support is also spot on
saggu Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 This is an interesting thread. we are Impero school as well. Does Inpero work on Chromebook? Thanks
Gez_Impero Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 This is an interesting thread. we are Impero school as well. Does Inpero work on Chromebook? Thanks Hello Saggu Yes, Impero does support Chromebook. Please follow the below link to our Chromebook guide: http://cdn.imperosoftware.com/knowledgebase/edupro/manuals/chromebook-guide.pdf Kind regards, Gez
acaylor Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Ok, after endless webinars, demos and phone calls. I have decided to recommend NetSupport School w/DNA. It seems to have all the best features we need with a price point that is comfortable for us. Thanks to everybody for the help and continued opinions/recommendations. Have a great day! 1
DanTheLacky Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 +1 for AB Tutor, you can pay per management machine so if it's just for the techs to use you only need one or two licences for most schools
