AnnDroyd Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) Does anyone know of a FREE provider of safety camera POIs for TomTom GPS systems? Edited May 1, 2008 by AnnDroyd
GrumbleDook Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 If you bought the product from Halfords, etc and TomTom will not allow you access to update it to the latest maps / versions then it has been incorrectly sold by Halfords. TomTom products are boxed with a date and have to be returned to be updated if they get too old. If the product you have purchased is more than 12 months old then you have had it from all sides I am afraid.
broc Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Not free ...... £19 pa unless you can register a 'first' sighting of a new camera! http://www.pocketgpsworld.com
DevilsAdvocate Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Agreed with broc. I've used PocketGPS before and they are excellent. I only paid for a month subscription, think it was about £2 I had left in my Paypal! The GATSO cameras aren't going to change too much so having older versions of the POI's doesn't matter to much if thats all you care about. But I do alot of Motorway driving so the Mobile cameras are useful to have too!
ninjabeaver Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Not free ...... £19 pa unless you can register a 'first' sighting of a new camera! http://www.pocketgpsworld.com Yep, brilliant for them. Always upto date and spot on. A+ £19 for a years subs.... compare that to a speeding ticket, the embarrassment and the increase in car insurance. Bit of a bargain there IMHO.
russdev Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You could not speed then wouldn't get a ticket Runs and hides after lighting the paper... Russ
plock Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Sorry to go off topic slightly - I've been looking at the Mobile Speed Camera Detection GPS receivers, what would you recommend?
GrumbleDook Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You could not speed then wouldn't get a ticket Runs and hides after lighting the paper... Russ Being honest, this is my point of view too ... The only reason I have it turned on for my satnav is so that i know when idiots in front of me are suddenly going to cut me up and brake sharply.
ChrisH Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Not free ...... £19 pa unless you can register a 'first' sighting of a new camera! http://www.pocketgpsworld.com It wasnt so long ago that was free!!!! Dirty rob dogs!
ChrisH Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 No licence, no tax and no insurance generally those types ....
rhyds Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Yes, exactly. And for some reason, they'll manage to get by without ever being caught for that either! It's like TV licences, if your not on the system to start with, you'll never get caught...
CHR1S Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 on a quiet road at 4.15am, I made a small mistake and got 3 points on my license for not noticing a change in the speed limit from 40 to 30mph. Thats pretty much how I was caught, the picture showed me about 3 feet passed the 30mph sign doing exactly 40.3mph! This was by a hidden unmarked van before they had to be visible from space My ex got done by the same camera van doing 50+ and had to go to court! Women drivers eh
