we have a pure windows network (3k server and xp pcs), and we have no outside support at the moment and if something goes wrong on the server and i get stack in configuring etc I have no where to go to for help, we thaught we need a server support that if need be we can contact them, ie. this will be like purchasing 10 hours support for a year etc. does anyone know what/which/who is the best way to go to.

You could always call Microsoft on an Ad-hoc basis? This is what we did when our Exchange Server failed to restart after a cold boot.

 

 

It costs about £290 per incident.

 

For Hardware, we have HP kit with warrenties (24/7 4hr + software on our most crucial boxes)

 

For other software we just make sure we've keep our software support contracts up to date and call the vendor.
