pinemarten Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 we are looking at something like the attached for our new ICT suites this is from a flyer from http://www.sccex.com - has anyone seen anything like this anywhere else (doubt if price includes bracket though ) , but looks pretty good to me , keyboard can be put under TFT to give workspace if required! (think we'll not do wireless mouse and kb though!!) Any thoughts/ experience of this firm?

When I looked at the HP AIO setup you had to buy the base unit, monitor and stand seperately. If you want an AIO like shown there try the Dell USFF there great, you can even screw them to the tables!! Not that we've done that. I recommend give someone like XMA a call to get a demo system to check how sturdy they are. That was my other problem with them, compared to the dells the stands were a bit flimsy.

djones Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Another vote for the Dells from me too! I've bought about a dozen before and they are very sturdy and neat - handle on the top picks the lot up - very handy (excuse the pun) for cleaning under/around etc. Dave.
localzuk Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 We have 70 Viglen Omninos here, but it was a close call between them, the RM One and some by Cybernet Europe (http://www.cyberneteurope.com). The prices are all pretty similar, except for the cybernet ones which are a little more expensive due to them being a smaller company and the machines being more compact than the others. The only problem with the Viglen's is that the power button is susceptible to getting jammed and the cables are difficult to plug in and take out.

I was given an account manager who I could contact almost every time I called. If they weren't there they called back as soon as they could - I dont think I've waited longer than a day for a respsonse. Delivery has been good too and I found the prices decent.

Do you have the newer model Omnino's or the very first ones? I would also recommend the Dell Optiplex machines. They seem to be well built and take up hardly any space.

My advise is don't do it, they're shit. these AIO solutions are not particularly space saving as they add so much depth to the monitor that you'd be better off buying an USFF pc and sitting it next to the monitor or sitting the monitor on top of the pc, if it'll fit. Buy the dell optiplex USFF pc by all means, it's very stylish and compact but i'd steer clear of AIO's - unless it's the vaio desktop or an imac. ;0)

john Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 HP do the same setup with the current range of HP Business TFTs and PCs as well, can't remember which models but its showing in the education brochure I have.
