also try "gpupdate /force" on all the workstations

this should work, xcopy \\server\file.lnk \\%computername%.mydomain.local\c$\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\DESKTOP\file.lnk or xcopy \\server\file.lnk \\%computername%\c$\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\DESKTOP\file.lnk i don't normaly use the domaim.local if you use it in a batch file, dont think batch can take the spaces, edit - the website has put a space between alluse~1 on the top line and file.lnk on the 2nd line but there shouldnt be

im in the middle of doing a fresh install of xp, puttin MP11 on, then installing updates one at a time and trying to see if this is the problem and if so wich update is causing this. don't think this will work thought as im using wsus and all computers have the same updates and its only affecting some, but hey im clutching at straws here and if it works ill just clone the machine

hiya, there isn't a image resizer tool for server 2k3 from microsoft (to my knowledge) what i do here is just use a xp machine with admin privs of the folder with the images, search for all files larger than 2MB then just highlight them all and use the tool from that xp machine.

we use logmein on the staff laptops, that way if they are doing work any where and have a problem (& internet access) you can just log in and fix it

we had this on a few machines at our school, i still not have fixed the problem but it started to work on a few machines, i think its to do either with hardware and/or profiles what i have done so far is... re-installed MP11 - Didn't work created new profiles - worked on most machines (HP) but didn't work on RM machines hope this helps

try this xcopy \\2003server\sharedarea\_TEACH~1\LettersHome\*.* \\2003server\d$\data\intranets\wamp\wamp\www\letters\*.* edit - or this net use Y: \\2003server\sharedarea\_TEACH~1\LettersHome net use Z: \\2003server\d$\data\intranets\wamp\wamp\www\letters xcopy Y:\*.* Z:\ /d/e net use Y: /del net use Z: /del the /d/e switch make it copy all folders within that directory and also any files that have been modified - 2nd edit this does add spacces inbetween the word "letters" so make sure ya dont copy that acrross

have you tried "SKEEP VNC"? this works well and also hides the icon in the corner

the school i work for have a specailist reprographics studeo, if you phone us on 01642 321212 and ask for nic, if he's not there then please ask for me (lee) we will be able to give you a price. shoould be cheaper than the shops also as its set as an enterprise for the students.

a peice of software installed runs in the background (hidden internet filter) runs as services but not just one 5-6 to prevent kids or staff to stop it from running, 3 different ones kept loading up so at the end their was about 20 of each service running, wasn't slowing the maching down or eating up resources just blue screened. - must of just been coincidence it happned when the UPS faild :S

ill also just add, this is what made me laugh at the end... considering it was a file server that had this problem with all the staff work, lesson plans, all the curriculum data on only 2 people came to see me about it. fair enough i work in a small school but TWO people haha

did start to do this, did about 7-8 non microsoft ones then thought well theres about 20-25 of microsoft ones + non microsoft so was going too take well to long. think i might of cracked it now been on 5min solid

yeh i seen that from WhoCrashed, had a link to same page, only it cant be a virus... 1. hasn't infected any other machine 2. sophos aint picked it up 3. no 1 can install on the server (& i havn't) but thanks for looking
