Hi All,

 

Please could you advise what you use for digital signage solutions?

At present, I have an Xibo installation and 2 screens, however, SLT aren't impressive by the quality.

 

Is anyone else using Xibo, if so could you provide some screenshots of the content you have on your screens?

 

Alternatively, I am looking for other cheap/open source solutions, can anyone suggest anything?

Look at rise vision. I replaced our onelan solution with it and it works really well. Was easy to set up ad maintain. We have the lunch menu, dinner sittings, Twitter feed, clubs and activities and then photos of recent activities around the school.

Hi,

 

We use Xibo, but the master template is defined by us and the main content we play is a collection of video files (mostly rendered from PowerPoints... With some RSS tickers at the bottom. It seems to work fine for us.

Xibo is as pretty as you make it. We went for a stylized version of the school logo as a background and then just had the sections floating on top, no borders or defining graphics. No complaints here. It could be a bit more flashy but it does the job.

The red dash on the left is a place holder for emergency messages. We found that Xibo won't read blank RSS files so made the system that creates them produce a dash if there is nothing there. Apart from that it is all standard, top line has time date and a section that swaps between the Newsround RSS and a quote of the day. The left hand has our messages scrolling and the right has our Twitter feed and then our photos from Flickr which swaps with the weather.

We use XIBO but I have used Overview - Concerto Digital Signage Project in the past.

We're finding xibo annoyingly unreliable. Enough that we're looking at others, most notably Rise.

However we're keeping an eye on Microsoft's Sway. It can't loop presentations yet which is a simple addition which MS agreed to - last year. Would be ideal being able to use Onedrive and office assets for signage.

We've used Xibo for six years or so. There have been some less reliable versions, but our current build is great. Remember to fix your Windows clients every time you do Windows updates, as they tend to stop working properly (Open file dialogue etc).

I don't know. I've not used it. It was recommended by the LEA. You buy your android box and go from there. I'm sure there is a free version and one you pay for with a bit more functionality. I was told to setup the main Google Docs account that you are going to use with it first.
