Data Recovery Software

Hi All,

 

I hope this is posted in the correct place.

 

I am looking into Data Recovery Software as I get many pupils and staff who bring their memory sticks to me saying they either deleted work or work got corrupt. I have been using 'MiniTool Power Data Recovery' for free which seems to work fine, but now I have to pay for it.

 

Before I go ahead and possibly pay for it I just want to hear from other people on what recovery software they use and if they would recommend it.

I tend to just use Photorec (PhotoRec - Digital Picture and File Recovery).

I've always had good results with Recuva.

I've had good success with z-a recovery. free version recovers images but you have to buy it to recover other files.

+1 for PhotoRec and the accompanying TestDisk.

It saved a vast amount of my bacon one day - I was so relieved that I made a donation to the developer.

+1 for PhotoRec, TestDisk and Recuva (sometimes used in combination). Many pigs' worth of people's bacon has been saved over the years.

Thank you for your reply guys. I tried TestDisk and it worked a treat. Recovered all the work from the memory stick without any issues. Only downside is that it doesn't keep the file names but that's not the end of the world.
