Right so I've been pretty bad at updating this thread but feast your eyes upon these images:

 

 

Things left to do: filling and sanding, undercoats, overcoats, vinyl. Fit speakers and more permanent power solution (read: powered USB hub!)

 

Also not sure which Raspberry Pi distro I'm gonna go with. Currently I'm on Picade, but I'm not a massive fan.

 

Had a bit of a scare last night when we had both joysticks in and you moved them, the Pi would cut out and switch off! We sorted it though

Yeah... I'm trying to design it at the moment but failing miserably!!

 

 

I'm getting tempted to just get carbon fibre vinyl and then a few stickers and maybe just customising the marquee!

I'm using PES on my pi3 and would recommend it, excellent district running mega drive/news/snes and PlayStation games so far

Bought this. 2 Player Arcade Control Kit - 2 Ball Top Joysticks, 16 LED Illuminated Buttons | eBay

 

It comes with controllers and plugs in with USB, so you can pretty much use any computer to run it.

Just had a go with PES 1.5.1 and the pi wouldn't boot with it. Dunno if it was anything to do with my trying to access the SD card on Windows before putting it into the pi. Just looped and did the rainbow of death! Just downloading retropi 3.6.

 

EDIT: so the usb power plug I was using wasn't good enough! Awaiting my powered USB hub!! I'll try it again if I decide I don't like retropi.

After going to Play Expo at the weekend we have decided on painting the cabinet black and having a few vinyl stickers. YAY... hopefully that will start soon.

 

I've got a PS2 (?) Lightgun - Logic 3 Predator 2. What are the chances I'll be able to re-wire it and get it working on the Pi? I've googled it briefly and not found a bean!

 

Only issue I can think I'd have is the cable that goes to the yellow video in... guess it needs that to see where it is on the screen?

What sort of screen have you got in the cabinet? The older lightguns require a CRT and won't work with newer displays.

Yeah I have tft so it won't work. Really struggling to find any modern guns! Cheapest is £50 from Hong Kong... so £60 after you add the VAT

You can but they require sensors a bit like a Wiimote.

Yeah the one from hongkong had a sensor bar that had to be mounted. Might be easier to get a PS4 move controller and a gun clip on...

The Aimtrack guns use a sensor bar but seem to get mixed reviews, a lot seems to depend what game you are using them with.

Those are £90 on ebay... defo out of my price range

Right when I got home from golf last night, Mr Pete was arms deep in the cabinet stripping everything out so we will stop playing and get doing!

 

He has filled in gaps with wood filler. Sanding should be happening tonight!

Got grooves for the t-moulding now. Should be painted by the end of the weekend 😁
