dave.81 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 We have one which is used by staff who are on time sheets which has failed and have been asked to look into a more modern one that will do the totalling etc for us and hopefully link with the salto ID cards we already use. Does anyone use electronic clock in machines, what type? Would love to put it in for all staff but dont think the teachers would like that!
TechMonkey Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 The only one I know of is used by our contract cleaners. It is a fingerprint reader and hooks in to the network. I think it reports back to a central management website but can also be harvested by USB. I can get a model and make if it helps.

Made no odds to me, signed in and out of buildings for the last 6 years using my card. I had no problems with it although I did advise the management at one place that they needed to be careful about using the door access data in cases against staff without it being in contracts. TT

sparkeh Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 We use Inventry as our signing in system, it can produce timesheets which we use for those staff that need them. Teachers sign in and out as well with no fuss. Isn't it just good practice to know who is on/off site in case of emergencies (fires etc).

Yes, at the schoold we used NET2 for staff & 6FM roll call, and Inventry for Visitors. Our premises dept run a report at 8PM each night to see if anyone is left in the building, if the report comes up with someone they have to do a sweep.. If said person is not found they are assumed of site and then their manager has a word in their ear about proper exit procedure .

We got a quote from synel who were at BETT however their solution was too sophisticated for what we wanted it to do.

Unless there's a problem with the device\printer Im guessing this would be potentially dangerous used as a fire register? in case someone didn't sign out properly etc?

That's why we have Inventry Anywhere on our phones (there's an iOS app or a mobile website for Android or Windows mobile users).

I presume once on the network you then just install the software which "discovers" the clocking in system ? It mentions a link to Sage - is this just a specific file export then is then uploaded in to SAGE or is it cleverer than that?

We use it for our Catering and Cleaners and to be fair its not been any bother. In the first few weeks it was a nightmare so we changed the unit to a facial unit instead as the bio metrics didn't pick up the cleaners finger prints, the cleaning fluids that they used had quite literally scrubbed them away. The software comes in 2 parts. there is one part that needs to be sat on a machine - VM or physical - it doesn't matter, as long as it can host. The second part is the client which is licensed - we have 3 and this is used for the day to day running of the system and it can be set down to user permission level. The only gripe comes when you re-image a machine, you have to ring up the company to get an activation code as the license isn't transferable. We don't use sage at the moment, we only use it for logging clocking ins but looking at the manual (the sage manual here MIM Systems (ClockRite) Documents), it looks like it exports as a CSV.

Thanks, interesting you moved away from the fingerprint - I think that's our cleaning supervisors preference. I have an apps server that I could install the first part of the software on to and the second on to the PC he will use to run the system. Do you have a copy of the install manual? Our preference was to use biometrics - even MIM (the guys we bought it off) couldn't believe the biometrics didn't work so they sent out a guy to test it and guess what, the cleaner's fingerprints didn't work. the facial system though has been great! The database it's self doesn't need anything powerful, ours sits on one of our spiceworks VMs and it ticks over nicely. As for the manual, the documents i have are the ones listed in the link above. If i remember rightly, they installed the database on the system once i setup the shares - i think. 1
Oaktech Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Just in case it comes up, I would not choose Wasp Time. I had a version of it bought and installed and it was sent back within 2 months. Did not do what the salesman said it would!
