Jawloms Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Anyone watching? They're getting through the contestants this year! They've got an Olympic bronze medallist happy she can still move her arms and legs (Beth Tweddle: Gymnast 'stable' in hospital after The Jump injury - BBC Sport) and already had a dislocated shoulder (Rebecca Adlington), pulled hamstring (Linford Christie), dislocated elbow and arm fractured twice (Chrisie from Holby) and I'm sure there was a dislocated wrist too somewhere!
HarryMonkey Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Louisa Lytton injured a hand and tore a ligament in her thumb.
Joanne Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Not watching. To me it seems a bit much to expect people to be able to do that. Kinda silly!
BassTech Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) I've been watching, it's pretty good but what I notice is that when they fall they go down like a sack of spuds, so not surprised with the amount of injuries this year. I wonder if they get taught how to fall properly/safely? Edited February 8, 2016 by BassTech
sippo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'd quite happily enter for a six figure + fee...
Zoom7000 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I love how Davina McCall said on the show how Beth Tweddle was having "routine back surgery", because you know, back surgery is something we all do every other week! She got panned on Twitter for that comment and rightly so!
rich_tech Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I cannot understand how they even thought that this show was possible in its current format, given that athletes train for years in these disciplines, I wouldn't think I could have a go at ski jumping after a couple of weeks training, its a bananas idea, given that snow and ice can be very unforgiving surfaces to land on.
LeMarchand Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Watching people desperately trying to bolster their dubious celebrity isn't my kinda thing, but if they're desperate enough to risk their well-being that's their choice.
Jawloms Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Watching people desperately trying to bolster their dubious celebrity isn't my kinda thing Mine neither, and there is no way I would watch "Celebrity" big brother or anything like that. I enjoy this as I like to see people push themselves and achieve what they thought they couldn't. CBB is just "lets put together people we know will argue". Can't stand it. I would happily watch The Jump with 'normal' people in it.
CAM Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 The first series of The Jump worked well as they had a smaller ramp and less injuries. I guess the producers wanted some more drama with a bigger ramp... Also reports that the celebrities aren't taking training seriously by having a few jumps and stopping because "they are tired" when they should be spending the full session up and down the ramp. It's an athletic event after all!
