Hello all,

Hopefully someone here can help with this annoying issue I'm experiencing!

I am setting up ADFS on a domain controller, running Server 2012 R2; I am getting an error during running the Active Directory Federation Services Configuration Wizard.

The error is "The target computer is not joined to a domain. Only machines that are joined to a domain can be members of a AD FS farm"

The server is definitely joined to the domain as it's a domain controller, with no replication issues. I am logged on as a domain administrator, not a local account. Ran all the latest windows updates.

Any one got any ideas?

I know it sounds strange, but have you given the server a reboot? Although I haven't installed ADFS, I have had similar error messages about not being a DC until I have rebooted the server.

That only depends on which version. If you are configuring ADFS 2.0 It is not advised as it needs IIS components. ADFS 3.0 although still not best practise shouldn't pose too much of an issue apparently. Having said that I can't get automatic logon to work on mine :')
