Note 1: "Mouse doesn't work", meaning: The rodent within this machine refuses to seek gainful employment and pay their fair share of the rent. Could you please evict them?

Note 2: "Mouse doggy", meaning: This is a warning that the rodent in question has accepted a canine companion. I am unsure of its temperament and can't be certain if it will or won't attack trespassers. Please take caution.

Department might be Art

Although - maybe we're looking at it wrong...

It could be 'Morse', rather than mouse - check for a DVD in the laptop. Maybe it's a media studies laptop and they're having issues getting the Inspector Morse box set to play.
