Opening attachments in Office online

Is anyone else finding that opening email attachments in Office online isn't working all of the time? For example, clicking a Word document attached to an email starts the process to open it online but then it displays an error and suggests downloading it and opening it in Word on the desktop.

I am having the same issue at the moment. Got seven staff complaining. Logged a ticket with Microsoft and they want me to provide a fiddler trace.

Actually I have just got this from them. Please connect to windows powershell and run cmd for affected user

 

Get-Mailbox -Identity [email protected] | fl

 

Get-OwaMailboxPolicy for the user and we will compare the outputs for working and non-working users and then check.

 

Also please try to open affected users account in different browsers and check if the issue is reproducible

Hi Edu-IT are you still having issues? Microsoft have passed the issue over to their sharepoint team. I hoping they work out the issue soon.

We had/having sometimes, had one user where it would not load then after a couple of retires to open in the preview from email and it just worked without doing anything.

Yep that's the same issue we are having. Unfortunately its happening to several members of staff at my place.

I never really got anywhere with Microsoft, they seemed to suggest it was a known issue being worked on.

Tbh I am having the same issue with them. Sent off three fiddler logs and no further forward. Hopefully the sharepoint team will be able to help.
