We have a number of students using reply all to send to teacher and student distribution groups, is there a way of disabling this in 365? we have quite a strange set up with 50% of students using office 365 and the other 50% using exchange.

Any help in disabling in 365 and exchange is greatly appreciated

I should say we only want to disable reply all for students and not for everybody

O365 admin, Exchange, Recipients, Groups. Edit the all Staff Group, Go to Delivery Management Remove all groups apart from All Staff so only Staff can send to the Distribution Group. I've seen it where only certain Authorised Staff can send to all staff. You'd need to set up a group specifically for that. You can add individuals but that's messy...

As a thought, if this can't be stopped should the staff not be BCCing the distribution groups into the initial email? That way even if the student clicks reply all it will only go to the recipient.

We do this - students can only receive from Staff email accounts (no external) and some mail groups such as All Staff are locked down so only certain staff can email the group/

You can change delivery restrictions for multiple users through powershell either by OU or database.

See @sonofsanta reply in the above thread.

Just change the parameters of Get-Mailbox cmdlet to retrieve the users you want to modify this setting.

Sorry I misunderstood your post...

I think this can be done using transport rules?
