SimpleSi Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 (edited) I get an error when trying to load http://www.edugeek.net "Zero Sized Reply" regards Simon Edited February 27, 2008 by ZeroHour
ZeroHour Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 (edited) Hmm Can users PM me when they get this and I will liaise directly to diagnose the cause of the problem. What proxy are your running there btw? Also you can use your mobile phone to post @ http://www.edugeek.net/forums/ You should get a mobile skinned version of the site. Cheers Edited January 21, 2008 by ZeroHour
Diello Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Looks good. Posted using Opera Mini on PDA. Threads were using full skin at first, seems ok now.
SimpleSi Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 Working in a CLEO school - thru a cachepilot which itself goes onto the main lancs proxy. regards Simon
ZeroHour Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Restarting apache seems to cure the issue and initial research on the internet provides no solution as of yet.
DMcCoy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I've been told by IE that it can't display the main page for the last two mornings.
ZeroHour Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Yeh I have no idea whats causing the issue. Is it still happening as I restarted apache to help cure the issue?
DMcCoy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Yeh I have no idea whats causing the issue. Is it still happening as I restarted apache to help cure the issue? working now, although the forums still worked when the front page was dead
mrcrazy04 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I've got it now - both in firefox and IE7. Sending a PM now. 1
ZeroHour Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Rebooted the server. We shall see how it goes for now. It may be a RC issue with 1.5 so I am testing the new stable build on the duplicate of this site. If it runs well I will be switching us asap. Cheers for the report
alonebfg Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 the problem is here the only way i have got here is via a known old address but a lot of other pages keep trying to get me to download a php file.
Paul_L Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Sorry, but I am now getting this error first thing every morning when I come onto the site, if I go direct to the forums its okay, otherwise I get the 'Zero sized reply' Paul
vikpaw Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 similar problems here in northants, running under the EMBC (East Midlands Broadband Consortium), it's flaky at the best of times, but for once i don't think it's their fault! Get this error: While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.edugeek.net/index.php The following error was encountered: Zero Sized Reply Squid did not receive any data for this request. Your cache administrator is webmaster. ---------------------------------------------------- Generated Wed, 23 Jan 2008 08:37:38 GMT by embc-sqd11.embc.org.uk (squid/2.5.STABLE13) Please don't publicise the fact i can't get it up!
localzuk Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The zero sized reply error seems to all point at squid being unable to re-request a page after failing the first time or the connection between the proxy and the server is prematurely ended. What's the load like on the server?
ZeroHour Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Server load is minimal at the edugeek end. I have seen things about squid having the issue but restarting apache cures the issue.
DSapseid Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 When i go to the news, media or about us pages i get this at the top above the logo. Notice: unserialize() [function.unserialize]: Error at offset 0 of 67 bytes in /home/default/live.edugeek.co.uk/user/htdocs/plugins/system/remember.php on line 68
ZeroHour Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 We are now running 1.5 Stable on Secondus so hopefully things will be better.
russdev Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 errmmm no... I goto http://www.edugeek.net/index.php and get a white page Russ

steve Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Another Zero Sized Reply here within YHGfL. Going straight to the forums works though.
beeswax Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Just get a blank page from home and work, in FF and IE7. Access to rest of site seems fine.
Paul_L Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Still same error again this morning I'm afraid, its always on first attempt in a morning, next time i try all is well, strange!
ZeroHour Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Yeh but the weird thing is when I access it from my mobile it worked. Hmmm
ZeroHour Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Right I have configured a few external testers so they will notify me when the server stops responding. Having a time window should help narrow down the cause, hopefully 2
