Joanne Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 This was only my third time on a course, so I guess it's to be expected. I knocked 12 shots off my last round so at least I'm making some progress!!
bodminman Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm playing tomorrow for the fist time in over a year. Staff v Parents. Bring it on!
Joanne Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Good luck!! One of my main issues is getting the ball up in the air. I think my swing speed needs working on too. Got an on the course lesson next week anyways.
bodminman Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Cheers I'll need it. Getting the ball in the air isn't a prob for me but getting it to go in the right direction is! Also I'll be playing with contacts in for the first time.
Joanne Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 That'll be different for you then! Lessons with a pro have really helped me. I can hit them straight and my swing is good, just need to get my coordination down, add some power and know which club to select when out on the course!!
kennysarmy Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Another golf nut here...currently off 10.... Strengths of my game - putting and keeping calm. Major weakness of my game - hitting the fairway with the driver!
phughes Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Ive just got down to 10.8 now and loving it! Road to single figures is well under way....
kennysarmy Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Ive just got down to 10.8 now and loving it! Road to single figures is well under way.... I was 9.4 for ONE MEDAL
phughes Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I was 9.4 for ONE MEDAL Nice! I won the May Cup last week playing off 13.0 and can't wait until Sat. If I play well I could make the magical single figures....
Iain.Faulkner Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nice! I won the May Cup last week playing off 13.0 and can't wait until Sat. If I play well I could make the magical single figures.... Single figures is simply a dream for me.... :-( Competition this Saturday though, hoping to at least make buffer....sick of these 0.1 handicap increases! 1
phughes Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 We've (mood swings golf) been working really hard over winter to improve. Lots of video lessons too if you want some pointers All the best 👍⛳ 2
Liam Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I finally got my handicap this weekend.. 22! I am playing a comp this Sunday and been shooting 91-94 last couple of rounds.. My cards were garbage and from late last year but just wanted to get the handicap. I'm in need of some new irons though. Any suggestions ?

My cards were garbage and from late last year but just wanted to get the handicap. I'm in need of some new irons though. Any suggestions ? Go off reviews, high handicap and forgiving irons. I use forgiving cavity backed irons, Taylormade Burner 2's. New cobra stuff is great though. Seek advice from a local pro, what is best for you

Seek advice from a local pro, what is best for you What @phughes said :-) Make sure you go somewhere where they aren't just going to try and sell you whatever gives them the most commission, get properly custom fit as well. I'm playing off 20 and have the Ping G25 irons and really like them, bought them when I was off 24.
Liam Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I use call away X hot currently. Only a year old and I was fitted for them.. I just really don't like them. I had a cheap set of Wilson staff and they were awesome. To be honest I made a mistake buying these as there was a great deal on them with my membership. I quite like the Cobras. Where do you guys play?
phughes Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nelson GC. But am trying to play as many other locations as possible for our YouTube channel. http://Www.YouTube.com/MoodSwingsGolfUK
AJWhite1970 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I was a 1.2 handicapper before I broke my foot in Jan 2015. Haven't played since but have had the all clear to start playing again. I suspect I'll be lucky to break 100 for a few rounds...
Liam Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Got to love it. It's just a shame none of my friends play it. I play on my own most of the time unless I get in the comp.
bodminman Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I normally play either Rookery Park, Bungay or Southwold GC's. All in the north of Subny Suffolk.
phughes Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 1.2! Awesome, I'm sure you'll be better than you imagine 👍
kennysarmy Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Would have liked to have played tomorrow, even if it was just 9 holes but weather looks awful - not a chance to drag my 15 year old daughter out with me to play unless it's dry!
phughes Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Very responsible I will brave the weather for comp day :/
