Also, golf is damnnn expensive, i'd probably be into it a whole lot more if a good set of clubs didnt cost ~600 quid!

Second hand?

You don't have to buy new to get in to golf....plenty second hand sets get sold on ebay...

Bought my set for £20 off ebay. Second hand is definitely the way to go.

The 3 month membership is going to be £100, so should save some pennies there if I am playing a couple of times a week+.

That's what's kinda making me think I shouldn't throw myself in, because if I like it, I can't really afford to do it!! Hahahah. I need to buy some proper clothes because the club I'm joining have a strict dress code... whereas the public course where I have my lessons do not have such a code. I'll be going around today with joggers and a vest... (work clothes)... sounds worse than it is.... hmm.

Danny Willett is having another good start to his round at the PGA.

Is anyone else going tomorrow?

Weather earlier in the week was looking ideal, but now looks like I might have to take some waterproofs for the odd shower!

18 holes on Tuesday evening in the pouring rain :( - played so so - missed quite a few 6-8 feet putts which cost me a good score.

9 holes last night at Club Night and in the dry did better - proper handicap is 10 but I had been cut to 6 for Club Night and yesterday scored:

bogey 5/bogey 6/par 3/par 5/par 3/bogey 5/par 4/par 4/par 4 for 18 points - third best score of the night for the 0-14 bracket and thus cut another shot - so next and subsequent weeks I'm off 5 :( unless I get another cut!

Pleased that I hit most of my drives on target - on the 4th there was a longest drive comp. and I was in the last group out and was just 7 yards back from the marker.

Next game Sunday Medal - such a different game off the white tees though...but at least I'll be off 10 again!

I'm officially a member of a golf club now. Been playing with a committee member to get the hang of certain rules and etiquette. I got a 6 on a par 5. Was well chuffed 😁

Three holes killed my medal on Saturday.

Dropped 2 shots (3 off the tee) on a shot hole par 4.

Dropped 3 shots (had to play out sideways twice & then 3 putted) on a SI 1 - long par 4!

Stood on the 17th tee - 5 over par and proceeded to hit 2 in the water on the signature island type green - one ball short in the drink - one long in the drink!

If I was n't already well over par I'd have not reloaded on the tee - but hey ho.

Range work tonight to try and straighten the damn driver out - was watching a few YouTube videos yesterday about the D-plane!

Haven't played in the Saturday competition this week (been away in Chester), but managed to get out for some social golf last night.

Played 16 holes in 18 over (handicap of 20) so I'm more or less in the right area, so pretty pleased overall (this included losing a ball in the short rough to the right of one of the fairways...I think the group playing up the next hole played it). Plus in those 16 holes I had 5 Pars and 6/7 1 putts so they were pretty pleasing stats as well. Just really need to get stupid little mis-hits out of my game....example....13th is a short par 4...2nd/3rd easiest hole on the course, nice 5 wood into the middle of the fairway, roughly 100 yards downhill into the green....duffed my first chip 20 yards in front of me, second chip into the greenside bunker, chipped out of the bunker and 1 putt for an unorthodox 5.

Plus If I could straighten my driver out, I'd be lethal :-( Certain holes just don't give me any sort of second shot and I'm constantly playing sideways for my second. Might start playing a couple of them with a 5 iron off the tee.

I knew you didn't live near me. I said it to sound nice.... but knew you wouldn't be able to use them! *evil*

But my Auntie lives in Preston and I'm up visiting for a week in the summer so will actually take you up on your kind offer - please send the vouchers to my home address !

There are no vouchers... apparently I just have to speak to him and arrange times / dates. You could try and get away with giving my name. You might also need a lady wig to really pull off the scam :p

Good (but quick) session on the range on the way home yesterday.

A few 9 irons to warm up then on to the Driver.

Worked on trying to reduce the cupping on my left wrist at the top of the back-swing and that really did seem to straighten out my cut across the ball (slice!).

I'd video'd my swing the day before and noticed a bit of standing up too early through the shots so was trying also to work on maintaining my spine angle through impact and release...and was also ensuring I felt like I was hitting the ball out to the right, again to try and stop the out to in motion - hit some really great straight shots - but man, trying to concentrate on controlling three body movements whilst performing a fluid motion is not easy!!!

Club night tonight - slow and smooth slow and smooth slow and smooth....

As soon as I fix one thing I break another! Hahahah!!

Wanted to go out last night, but figured that lightning + metal sticks on a hill was a bad idea. Hopefully the electrical storms will hold off this evening.

Well due to my campervan failing its MOT, my camping trip for this weekend is now cancelled....which means I've signed up for Captain's weekend instead :-) 2 day competition for a place on the board! Can't wait :-)
