Gardinho Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I'd video'd my swing the day before and noticed a bit of standing up too early through the shots so was trying also to work on maintaining my spine angle through impact and release...and was also ensuring I felt like I was hitting the ball out to the right, again to try and stop the out to in motion - hit some really great straight shots - but man, trying to concentrate on controlling three body movements whilst performing a fluid motion is not easy!!! Care to post a link to your video for Edugeek Swing Analysis?????
AJWhite1970 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 As soon as I fix one thing I break another! Hahahah!! Wanted to go out last night, but figured that lightning + metal sticks on a hill was a bad idea. Hopefully the electrical storms will hold off this evening. My OH was actually hit by lightning once while playing golf and it hasn't done her too much damage (other than coming to in a ditch and needing her 7 iron re-gripped...!!). Gary Player once said that if you are ever caught golfing in a thunder storm, go out to the most open place you can find and hold your 1 iron above your head as according to him, "even god can't hit a 1 iron properly" 1
Joanne Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Yikes! The only thing good that can come out of a lightning strike are those cool burns Does she have those?
kennysarmy Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Care to post a link to your video for Edugeek Swing Analysis????? Never one to disappoint. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b3uhe-Q1JA&feature=youtu.be oh and don't look at the dodgy garden only footwear 1
AJWhite1970 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Nothing wrong with your swing, looks all in sync but I would have a look at your alignment as you appear to be very closed at address (although it's very hard to tell from a garden video!!)

Thanks. It was tricky to setup and film and try and get the camera looking down the right line - but yea - I may have a tendancy to sneak a bit closed with the Driver in an effort to eliminate the slice motion...
AJWhite1970 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 No problem. A face on view would be helpful, it's hard to tell from the back but it looks like you are a bit stooped at address which you then compensate by throwing your right shoulder up and out on your backswing which would cause your slice... It's also possible your ball is a touch too far forward which is why you are reaching for it with an open clubface at impact.
Gardinho Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Jeff - Is your ball starting left and slicing or starting right then slicing? Your ball flight will tell you everything. You do stand closed, then swing it along the lines of your feet, which is actually inside the target line. You come down on the same swing plane which will give you an in-to-out path through the ball. You will likely hit a push slice, or wrap your hands around it and hit a snap hook.

Don't stoop - I'll add that to the other three things to think about Seriously though - thanks for looking and taking the time to comment....maybe I'll do an update video in a few weeks....

Generally it appears to start on direction and then starts to spin to the right... Last night at the range there was definite improvement by keeping my left wrist flatter at the top.... If I do go left with the driver is usually been more of a pull (straight shot) The annoying thing is I'm really happy with my iron shots at the moment - straight to slight draw...so if I could just get the driver more consistent I feel I could score a lot better, putting and chipping still remains a good strength which is keeping my club night scores up even though I'm missing fairways off the tee more than I'd like to. Come on Dave - get your enthusiasm back

Come on Dave - get your enthusiasm back If you're swinging it good with the irons then perhaps the driver is not right for you. You are a tall man and I doubt very much that an 'off the shelf' club will be much good to you. Have you ever been custom fitted? I went to Celtic Manor to be fitted for my driver, they do look after you there. I played last night and didn't play too bad. I guess I'm just not enjoying the competitions at the moment. We have an A team game on Saturday so I need to keep going. Practising has recently felt more like a chore than a hobby!

Gardinho Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I'm now tempted to try and post my golf swing! Put your swing up and let's have a look
kennysarmy Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 So club night had some good positives yesterday. Driving (which I've been working on the most this last week) 1st hole - middle of the fairway 2nd hole (5 wood) - middle of the fairway 4th - slight fade to rh semi rough 6th - straight drive but dog-leg right hole so ended up in left hand semi 8th - middle of the fairway Very happy with the above considering last few weeks on Wednesday nights I've hardly hit any fairways. Did n't score so well though as 19 putts in 9 holes and a couple of approach errors and a mental lapse on the 9th tee (rushed my pre-shot routine - I blame the heat!) So only 13 points - but I'm having to play off 5 instead of my official 10 - so it would have been 16, and I left a good 2-3 points out there....already looking forward to next week! - - - Updated - - - I'm now tempted to try and post my golf swing! We're all waiting...
Joanne Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 I'm gonna have to do a new video of my swing now! Shot 70 over 9 holes last night. Slowly creeping down!
Joanne Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 This a slow mo of my swing back in January. I imagine it's slightly different now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HynSwJ48RLA
Tesla Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Next time I go to the driving range i'll get it recorded, my clubs are at my parents house atm! Cheers though.

I imagine it's slightly different now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HynSwJ48RLA I'm no expert but.... You seemed to start your downswing with your hands and so looks like you then came a bit over-the-top and pulled it (are your bad shots pulls and maybe slices?) Maybe stood a little too far away from the ball as well...look a bit like you're stretching for the ball....
Joanne Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Yeah I've had a lot of lessons since then. I'm not as flippy floppy and I WAS standing too far away. Corrected now like

Joanne Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Massive well done to Mr @phughes for completing the Macmillan 72 Hole Challenge yesterday in a mere 14 hours. I joined them for the last 18 and got drenched! If anyone wants to donate, it's here ----> https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/moodswingsgolf 2

Joanne Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 I was surprised at how chipper they were to be honest! Can't believe they kept going!
Iain.Faulkner Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Played in the Saturday comp last weekend, slightly different format to the usual ones....in that it was matchplay against the course, essentially the course played to par, if I shot net lower than par I would win the hole, level par was a half and over par was a loss. Was all even till the 17th & 18th when I played a couple of daft shots and lost by 2 holes :-( Enjoyed the change in format though. Booked in for another couple of lessons though as I'm sick to death of slicing my driver.....I lose far too many shots by not being able to get the ball to go straight off the Tee!!
