Add Win 7 machine to CC4 AD

Hi ,

Not sure if this is the right place - but - has anyone added a Win 7 machine to a CC4 server as you would do on Vanilla - IE not build as CC4 or Smartclient ?

I tried today and all I could get was the N: map

 

Just wondered if any one had tried this and got other stuff to install?

I think that sounds about right. I think the other drives are picked up using various RM tools rather than standard GPO's.

Yeah.

 

We did have admin staff (finance, premises, HR etc) using vanilla PCs on CC4 for several years until 18 months ago.

 

N: is mapped by AD ("Map x to users area") not by GPO. The GPOs are all based on usertypes ("ABC Teaching Staff Usertype", "ABC Student Usertype" etc) which are just group memberships.)

 

We kept our own set of GPOs for admin staff, outside of the CC4 OU (Establishments).

So, just to be clear - you added the machine to main site. Then created GPO's for that machine separate to CC4's which are listed under establishment? Where were these GPO's sat? Or did you create a separate OU (separate to Main Site) and then have the GPO's there?

Also, were RM ever funny about support when you did that?

CC4 works well when set up properly don't get all the negative comments about RM at times.

Nope - to the root of AD. Well away from Main Site, Establishments or anything else RM.

Yes. Think the GPOs were sat at root of AD, not in an OU. (I didn't set this up, just continued running it for 7 years until we wiped and put in fresh CC4 last year)

Nope. :-)
