I have it on my Zyxel NAS box (rather hacked on) to play via a Roku 3.

It really is awesome. The only issue I have is that the CPU in the NAS is quite lightweight and the boot time until the Plex server is full working is quite long.

Another vouch for Plex, my Qnap has it (among many other media apps) and its great

After trying various similar apps, I went for Plex - really like it.

 

My only niggles are TV "specials" don't show up (I've changed the folder/naming convention) which isn't a biggie until when/if I upgrade to W10 (I'm assuming Media Centre will then stop working). Also the metadata for my music is less than stellar, though the new music thingie has improved things. The original embedded data is generally good, though I doubt the folder structure matches, which could be part of the problem - though doesn't explain why most of the data is OK for some artists, but the album cover is incorrect. One day I might have time to take a good look at it...
