Gatt Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Great news! But yeah I was getting vibes that this could be US only - which would suck big time considering Trek has fans world(s) wide!
localzuk Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 They won't make it US only - they make most of their money from international syndication!
Jawloms Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Great news! But yeah I was getting vibes that this could be US only - which would suck big time considering Trek has fans world(s) wide! Second paragraph; "The next chapter of the Star Trek franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International." My guess is Amazon Prime or another similar one you have to pay for.
CAM Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Predicting it will follow on from the films. JJ Universe is the new face of Star Trek unless they find some way to restore the universe back to how it was so they can carry on after DS9. Then again it is Star Trek, alternate dimensions and other weirdness could be at hand (or John De Lancie just clicking his fingers).
LeMarchand Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 No word on when this might make an appearance in the UK though... A few hours later for the bad people. My guess is Amazon Prime or another similar one you have to pay for. Whilst those sort of deals make sense for the creators of media, they still don't seem to achieve as great a cultural penetration. I would imagine that "Outlander" would be huge in the UK if it wasn't on Prime.
sted Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 A few hours later for the bad people. true but when it takes months for stuff to make it over here and esp with say agents of shield that feed into the next marvel movie you can see why people do it
Bezwick Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I would love it if they made a series based on the parallel Star Trek universe where the human race is evil and conquering the galaxy. There has been a few episodes pointing to this right from the original series so I would be great to do a full spin off series.
CAM Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 They are doing that storyline in STO at the moment involving Mirror Universe ships passing through into the prime universe. No indications yet if the new series will be station or ship-based though.
unixman_again Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Personally, I think they should drop the "Star Trek" title and call it something else. Berman and Braga allowed the franchise to drift far too much from Roddenberry's concept and the JJ Abrams series is even further afield.
6Foot2 Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Wrong show I thought this too, but then I thought that was the joke.
Arthur Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 At the CBS Upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall in New York on 18 May, CBS unveiled the logo for the new STAR TREK television series within the first-ever promotional video for the highly-anticipated program. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXpPweAooeE
davethetekkie Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Looks like they just nicked the VR Roller Coaster from Alton Towers and stuck the logo on the end. Definite JJ-verse then!
6Foot2 Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Looks like they just nicked the VR Roller Coaster from Alton Towers and stuck the logo on the end. Definite JJ-verse then! Apparently the Mirror Universe will feature (heavily?) in this series.
LeMarchand Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 "New crews" seems to confirm the rumour it's going to be an anthology series.
Norphy Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 The fact that Bryan Fuller, a man who was got plenty of experience in the Trek universe already, is an über fan and wrote brilliant series such as Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies is the lead writer for this gives me some confidence that this series will be ok.
Norphy Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 OK, so this is good news: Netflix have secured the rights to stream the new Star Trek series outside of the US. If you want to watch it, you won't have to resort to piracy. New Star Trek Series International Rights Go to Netflix 1
Norphy Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxba2WjlN90 Ship looks pretty cool at least. Hopefully the quality of the CGI will be better in the final product
ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 The ship looks like a classic Klingon rear with a Federation saucer slapped on the front. I'm interested
Norphy Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Star Trek Discovery to feature female lead - BBC News Some more details about the new series: Set 10 years before TOS The lead is going to be a Lieutenant Commander rather than the captain More in the article. I'm actually quite looking forward to this.
Arthur Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Something is found lurking at the edge of Federation space, and Starfleet will never be the same. Explore an all-new era of Star Trek weekly on Netflix starting 25 September.
DJ-1701 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Interesting, I might have to travel forward to *reads threads title* January 2017 to watch it... wait a moment...
