DalekSec Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hello Just curious what other people do with theirs, Recently our signage hasn't been used to its full potential. We have done in the past but now its basically a bunch of adverts for clubs and birthdays etc. Not the most exciting! One of my thoughts is to have a weekly video of something that's happening that week. For example this week I've put up BTTF2 scene with Marty walking around the future (past) and I am thinking of after half term to put up something about 5th November. We are using eSteam for our signage, which I have no problems with and not looking to change any time soon. So if people could either give me examples of what they do or idea I would be grateful! Thanks
DalekSec Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Lunch menu... We had that idea for awhile, but it mainly depends on the Domestic Bursar updating it every day
dry Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 We have a weekly 'Notices' message... but even they are getting a bit thin on the ground! I've made informative slides for things like the lunar eclipse, St Geroge's day, a toner recycling advert etc. I get things through in dribs and drabs- e.g. the local authority's half term library activities are up at the moment. I had a Childline advert up for a while. The PTA are having a fireworks night soon etc. I normally look through our newsletter for inspiration.
Miscbrah Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Single-slide adverts for each after-school or weekend club etc. Assembly themes for the week or however you do that. Advertise your library/LRC. Subliminal messages about kids behaving they damn selves.
Garacesh Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 We have a daily Pupil Notices that goes around the school screens, containing information about any class changes, after-school events, lost and found, etc. In the staff rooms, the cover list, reserves list, and information about any current major IT problems (or upcoming maintenance).
bald_pig Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I've started putting up the mornings newsround bulletins on our screens, think the staff watch it more than the kids though!
Garacesh Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Whatever you do, though, don't do a Fight Club >.>
Shadow_Walker Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 We have just re done our digital signage this month. I went with rise digital signage and split the screen into different sections. So on one side we have the breakfast and lunch menus which i update each week. Then someone else updates the lunch sittings each day On the other side we have our school twitter feed displaying recent tweets. Also have the pupils calendar displayed showing this weeks activities which are automatically pulled from a google calendar. Then on the main part of the screen we have school events pictures displaying. I get bits through from some teachers but some weeks we get nothing but then others we have loads of stuff to display.
hardtailstar Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 homework timetable clubs children given awards new staff daily quotes Just a few I have seen.
mdrabble Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Just redone ours using Xibo - the student/general signage contains a powerpoint with notices for upcoming event, etc on 3/4 of the screen and the other 1/4 is showing an RSS feed from Moodle where staff can put notices for Students. The staffroom screen is the same as the Student Signage but it also shows screens for Cover and Staff bulletins.
DalekSec Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Thanks for all the suggestions! I have noted down all the ones that catch the eye.
dpskinner Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 We have created webpages to display on our digital signage as it gives us a lot more freedom. We have separate pages/slides for Twitter, Instagram, Google calendar (events), This day in history, Christmas/Easter countdown etc all split up by pictures of the school and videos from the last school production.
unixman_again Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Ours shows the following slide show : college crest with welcome poster from local council about littering info about lost property wear your id badge at all times info on forthcoming events
Danp Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Our reception screen is normally a Powerpoint with photos and the odd notice but that is designed more for visitors. Outside my office/IT Suites we have a TV running a webpage that has about 50% of the screen showing the room bookings for the suites and the other half is split to show a clock, a map of the suites with printer locations and normally the house points tally but this is replaced with topical notices like Biology week plans last week etc. We also use our intranet a lot for notices, breakfast, lunch and supper menus are posted on there on a monday for the coming week.
