Techie2000 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I have a bit of a random question! We've recently had a cupboard converted to a small working space - however I've been asked to look at getting a projector installed - purely to display content. Whilst there is enough room for a projector pole - the room is so small you would literally be at arms length from touching the board it was being displayed on. And thats being at 'the other side of the room!' Is there a guideline on how far away a projector should be? (Particularly from a H&S / Visual aspect) Or does anyone have a recommendation? 1
3s-gtech Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 If it's that small, a TV would be a much better bet, and cheaper to install. No issues with retina damage from the lamp that way too! 1
Grey-gear Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I agree with @3s-gtech a TV may be the easier option. They use a TV in the main meeting room where I work and it works a dream. 1
sonofsanta Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) +1 that. We wallmounted a cheap 42" 1080p LG TV in our meetings room. Damn sight tidier with the cabling, looks posher, easier to see (don't need to close the blinds), and cost probably a third of what mounting a decent projector would have done. Buy a wireless keyboard & touchpad (£33 from Amazon) and you can plug a laptop in by the TV then control it from wherever you're sat. Works a treat Edited September 24, 2015 by sonofsanta 1
SteveM555 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) I would also suggest a TV... But if it really needs to be a projector, we have some EPSON EB-470's that are wall mounted around a foot away above the board Edited September 24, 2015 by SteveM555 1
achedgy Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 TV, definitely, can pick up a cheap one and wall mount, far simpler to deal with... 1
Techie2000 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks everyone - I think its definitely going to be a screen!
Oaktech Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I agree, a screen would definitely be the best idea, however, just in case someone higher up the food chain does the "I want what I want and nothing else will do" thing, an UST projector would also fit the bill as an arms distance from the board is pretty much perfect!
All-Office Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I am going to be a lemming here, Yes defiantly sounds like a screen would be the best option
mikeprice Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Also - a projector in a converted cupboard would make it really hot in summer - and possibly winter as well!!
