Hi,

I have been asked to design a report within SIMS which will automatically add behaviour points to students if a) their attendance is below 95% each week without supporting evidence i.e. appointment letter, medical certificate; b) being removed from a class and put into IE; c) getting more than one detention. This is also to work the same way with achievement points if a) 100% attendance; b) no late marks; c) no actions such as behaviour points issued during lessons. These points are to be added automatically on a weekly basis.

Is there away of creating this instead of manually adding the points each week?

Thanks,

Rachael

Short Answer: No

Longer Answer: There is nothing I'm aware of that automatically assigns points based on attendance / late marks directly in SIMS; removal from class and being put into IE and getting more than one detention can *kind of* be automated if you set these things up as behaviour types in their own right, but I don't know of a way to count detentions and add points; getting plus point for not having negative points seems a bit odd but I can't think of a way of automating this.

Alternative Answer: There are a number of third party packages available that offer some element of automatically awarding points, mostly based on attendance. When I last looked, these packages tend to operate as stand alone systems with no direct interaction with SIMS save, perhaps, for some kind of automatic reading of the student population. None of the systems I've seen cover all your requirements.

I feared this was the case but thought it would be worth asking the question. I wasn't aware of additional packages which might explain why the deputy swore there was another school who have the ability to do something like she has requested.

Thanks.

Thanks.

You can do it with PARS. It does a LOT more too, and costs, so may be overkill for what you need. Fully integrated with SIMS. They call it rule based behaviors and it's as it sounds, you set the criteria, and the outcome, and it does it on a schedule as per the rule.
