1. I need to set up a formula that identifies the top 5 highest performing students from a list of results. I also need to break this down further into the top 5 from each year group. Any ideas of the best formula to use.
  2. Thank you both. The error message that I am getting now is "no schemes derived from the selected group". Any ideas?
  3. Good Morning, I am after some advice regarding the promotion of students into the new academic year in SIMS. At the moment the students are showing on the pastoral lists as members however when I look at the academic structure and then curriculum assignments there are no students. I have gone through the SIMS help book a couple of times now but nothing seems to be working and when I spoke to CAPITA yesterday they just confirmed everything that I already knew and told me to change the date to the first day the students where in school in September and all the students should show up (which they haven't) Any ideas on what I have missed or am not doing? Thanks
  4. Hi, Does anyone know how to make a pivot table count in Excel show names rather than numbers? I want it to create a matrix tracking students KS2-current data outside of SIMS. Thanks
  5. Hi, I am using the following formula to calculate a students progress from KS2 to KS4 (eg 3B to B1) however the students with no KS2 data or a B for below average isn't calculating correctly. =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(((VLOOKUP(LEFT(U3,1),Lookup!$A:$B,2,FALSE)-VLOOKUP(VLOOKUP(1*LEFT($O3,1),Lookup!$H:$J,2,FALSE),Lookup!$A:$B,2,FALSE))/6)*1,Lookup!$L:$M,2,FALSE),"") I am asking the formula to look at the KS4 sub level first (U3) and then the KS2 (O3). The lookups are below A:B Lookup

a~* 58

a 52

b 46

c 40

d 34

e 28

f 22

g 16

u 0

x 0

H:J Lookup

A F E

B F E

1 F E

2 E D

3 D C

4 C B

5 B A

6 A A*

L:M Lookup

-3 0

-2 1

-1 2

0 3

1 4

2 5

3 6

An example of it not working is a student who has a B for KS2 data and is currently achieving a D1 therefore is making 2 levels of progress however the formula is leaving the cell blank. Have I missed something from the formula to make it calculate? Thanks and I hope this is making sense.
  6. Thank you both. You've saved my sanity. Its been driving mad as I knew there was a way to do it just couldn't make the correct connection to the right formula
  7. I want to transfer a cells information from one page to another without using a Vlookup and using the = formula ie ='SIMS Sheet A3' but don't want the blank cells to show as 0. Is there away?
  8. Hi, I've been asked to add additional intervention types on the behaviour management tab. Is there a way of doing this?
  9. Is there a way of removing the ability to add behaviour and achievement points whilst in register view. We're having an issue with staff not completing the information via this route so want to make them go into each student and complete the required information rather than using the shortcut. Thanks
  10. Thanks that's saved me a lot of work
  11. Just add them from scratch at the moment. - - - Updated - - - Yes some of them do. What setting do I need to change. This is the first time I have noticed it happening.
  12. Hi All, I have recently noticed when I come to add aspects to some of the templates within SIMS I am unable to do so as they are missing. I have double checked that the aspects are still active which they are and as stupid as it sounds also checked several times that I have not already added it to the template, which I haven't. Has anyone else experienced missing aspects even though they exist on other templates and are active? If so, have you found a solution to why they aren't appearing?? Thanks
  13. Hi, I'm having trouble with a look up table and wondered if anyone could advise. The idea is to forecast what a student is going to achieve in Year 11 from their KS3 data (Years 7-9) which is currently being inputted by staff members. I have created the attached lookup table however, I don't think I have done it correctly as nothing is being calculated when KS3 data is inputted. I know chance tables are available but SLT want teachers to see a forecast on their marksheet. Any advice or ideas gratefully received. ThanksDoc1.pdf

    SIMS RAG

It doesn't seem to be working....is there something I could have missed? I've created a column via data review using formula and followed the above but the boxes aren't colouring.

    SIMS RAG

Hi, I want a formula to use within SIMS for a column which measures a students effort for homework based on letters P, G, A, R. Once the staff member has rated them using the letters I want the column to change to the appropriate colour, blue, green, amber & red. How would I do this? Thanks,
  16. Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to change the titles of aspects within the SIMS reporting. Basically, I am creating a SEN report for the SENCo with lots of different information ranging from personal data to progress and attainment data. I want to rename the Assessment Results to the data it is extracting (see pic attached) How do I change the macros? SIMS Reporting.pdf
  17. No. The idea is to forecast what the student is going to get in year 11 based on their progress check data in year 7-9.
  18. Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I need to set up a marksheet within SIMS which predicts the KS4 outcome based on the KS3 level inputted by the teacher based on min 3 levels of progress. I have thought about using a lookup table however the one I have made doesn't seem to be calculating the lookup. Any suggestions or directions in which you can point me. Thanks
  19. Sorry one last one. At this point should last year's year 7's be now year 8s on the system or will they change come the first of September? I'm sorry for all the questions but as its my first year of carrying this out I just want to make sure that everything is correct for the first day of term. Thanks
  20. Does anyone know how to create a report within SIMS to export all the behaviour or achievement data which can be turned into a tracker? I need the behaviour or achievements points to be pulled out of SIMS and automatically create a pivot table to sort the points by type and week. Doc1.pdf
  21. Hi, I've recently worked through the SIMS end of year procedure booklet and created the new academic year, however when I have come to run a report I have noticed that the working year runs from 01-09-2015 until 30-08-2016 when in fact it should be running 03-09-2015 until 18-07-2016. The 1st and 2nd of September are teacher training days and the school closes for summer on 18th July 2016. Is there away to amend the working year? Thanks
  22. I feared this was the case but thought it would be worth asking the question. I wasn't aware of additional packages which might explain why the deputy swore there was another school who have the ability to do something like she has requested. Thanks.
  23. Is it possible to add information such as a student having a toilet pass to class registers so teachers are aware that the student has permission to leave if needed? Thanks.
  24. Hi, I have been asked to design a report within SIMS which will automatically add behaviour points to students if a) their attendance is below 95% each week without supporting evidence i.e. appointment letter, medical certificate; b) being removed from a class and put into IE; c) getting more than one detention. This is also to work the same way with achievement points if a) 100% attendance; b) no late marks; c) no actions such as behaviour points issued during lessons. These points are to be added automatically on a weekly basis. Is there away of creating this instead of manually adding the points each week? Thanks, Rachael
