Can anyone recommend a library system that doesn't have shockingly poor support?

In other words, any library system that isn't from MLS. I give up with them, I'm about one issue away from swearing at someone in management.

I'm currently sat here baffled by MLS support, the poor bloke who's remoted in to my library system server at the moment.....I'm having to update him on 6-9 months worth of issues, because he didn't appear to have a clue as to what the real issue was with our system. Someone appears to have just told him to remote in to update us from v12 to v15, and not the fact that the update loses all our finger prints and that we need self issue working.

And this is after having missed a scheduled remote session and then not replying to us for over a week. :|

+1 Koha. We used it at a previous school and found the community very helpful on the rare occasions we needed help. The only real hurdle was the LEA who wouldn't let Z39.50 through the firewall, largely I think because they didn't know what it was. An ADSL line soon fixed that.

We use Heritage where I am now. The support seems OK in that they are quick to respond, but I know there have been problems with student registrations that took a long time to resolve. It might be that Biostore and Heritage don't speak the same language.

Can any of you using Eclipse tell me two things:

1. How big is your database

2. of that database how big is the table called output?

Our database was 5.5gb, almost as big as the entirety of sims which seemed excessive. I found that 4GB of that was in the ouput table and i couldn't see any relevance of the information in there, some dating back 5-6 years! So i backed up the database and deleted the entire contents of that table, and it doesn't appear to have effected anything functionally. All the library data, borrowers, books, book links, photographs etc etc is all still there.....database is now 1.3gb of which nearly 900mb of that is photographs, which to be honest I'm tempted to wipe and then reimport from sims anyway as that no doubt has tons of histroical ones in. (I should mention, i am certain my backup is good, i don't recommend doing this without a good backup!)

Oh heck, Our librarian is just about to complete on Eclipse.net from these guys. Are they really that bad?

If you search the forums support has been questionable from members comments. Seems to fall down to since they were bought by Capita it went downhill....

Yes. And the last time they tried remote support, they broke it and left it like that.

Twice they destroyed our entire set of fingerprints, and left it to me to roll everything back. Only this time they say there's nothing they can do, we either go back to v12 and never upgrade or redo the lot.

Atrocious support.
