Here we go.. the argument of Transport Police wasting their time to save a single bee vs what bee's do for us.

 

Unfortunately in the GRAND scheme of things saving a single bee really isn't making a difference, that's why there are volunteers and conservationists who do that kind of work.

 

Here is a question, when there is a severe transport problem would you be happy to sit in traffic for 6 hours while a bee is saved or keep the flow of traffic moving? If you are quick to defend the BTP saving a bee you are surely admitting that you are happy to stop what the BTP are being paid to do in favour of a single bee?

That's an absurd question. The vehicles aren't allowed out anyway until they are checked and if a major incident occurs I am sure professionalism would put the incident far above a bee's welfare and just let the thing sit there and die. This is also the kind of dour-face rubbish spouted by those who don't know how social media engagement works, you put something funny or heart warming up and everyone talks about it whilst showing the organisation in a more human light and encouraging people to see the rest of your content. Approachable Police or robotic Robocop law enforcers, which do you prefer?

 

No sorry, humour on the Internet is illegal. Better sack everyone and hand our modems over to the government to be safe. Can't abide by a little humanity in our workplaces. Never mind, will gladly overlook the fact you are browsing Edugeek and moaning at someone wasting time instead of fixing computers. That's the environment you want isn't it?

 

Actually I saved a bee the other day on the clock. Gee, shouldn't have. Granted it died anyway because it was too dumb to fly out the window after dive-bombing my office window and flying down the hall to sit knackered on the stairs but think of that taxpayer's money. Damn, I need to reboot myself. Someone shove a Hirens CD in.

And this is being sited as a probable CAUSE of colony collapse disorder.

I can't remember the details, but the stress on the bees, and the spreading of mites / other disorders was a part of it.

I get that but (and I haven't read the full story so I may be wrong) how do we know they aren't on lunch/taking a break/not tasked with anything?

Yes I took it to mean that too from their use of "vehicle checks" too. But he/she might be checking it for all sorts of reasons. Might be looking for his/her truncheon in it, in his/her own time. Or hell even checking for bees.
