What should be in a Stationery Cupboard

e.g. like an unused dictionary....

 

 

Sitting alongside stationery items such as

 

wet wipes

black bin bags

white bins bags (or plastic shopping bags)

dyno tape labeller and labels

Avery labels

A4 folders

A4 diary (but maybe these should be on the desks)

blu-tac

paper clips

drawing pins

First Aid kit (for those scissor, gaff tape and drawing pin accidents....)

Can of Mace

at least 2 spare Minions

1 crowbar (to be used during budget meetings)

Having a tape measure handy is always a bonus - not exactly stationery but always needed . Also (kind-of) goes with your tape theme, only by name though.

Chinagraph pencil. I tend to write what fault there is with the hardware on it's lid/case when students come and dump their laptop or whatever on my desk. Saves repeating diagnostics when you've got 5 or 10 identical laptops sitting in your office all with faults.

 

Scrubs off easily with a slightly damp cloth.

I do the same with Post It notes

 

My desk is living proof that this doesn't work - unless no one else goes into your office and you fix everything within 24 hours, Post It notes will walk. Could be life-changing for me

I have a box on a shelf... it's contents are:

 

Micropore tape

Several blunt pencils (no sharpener)

Bag of rubber bands (old enough so they've mostly perished and won't stretch)

What looks like a table height adjusting handle, though I haven't seen any height adjustable tables here...

Box of staples, no stapler

Sellotape dispenser, no sellotape

Box of permanent markers (these actually work!)

Epoxy resin

 

Whereas in the stationery cupboard I tend to have…

Pens (unused… we're in the new technology age)

Pencils (ditto)

Erasers (ditto)

Backup tapes (spare)

Spare tape (for backup)

Obscure toners for printers we no longer have

Obscure printer spares for printers we no longer have

Obscure ink cartridges for teachers printers we no longer employ

White chalk (that can't be used on whiteboards)

Black markers (that can't be used on blackboards)

… And other sundry items

Oh, and a can of inoffensive antiperspirant for when you have done 'some real work' and got a bit warm. Or you just want a helping hand to get friendly with the nice lady in finance for $ProfessionalReasons.

Quite. No one needs to smell of teenage desperation.

 

We settled on Sure active at my last place as it was so inoffensive even the ladies borrowed it.

 

And just in case anyone was still under the misapprehension that you 'can't work as hard as rightguard'. Having stood with my head in the armpit of someone wearing it, trying to rack up a load of heavy kit, I assure you, you can.

Ladies deodorant is always so much nicer smelling than man deodorant, but stupid societal norms get in the way.

 

I WANT TO SMELL LIKE A PRETTY PRINCESS, DAMNIT. Not quite.. But sometimes I'd like an actual fragrance that isn't 'overwhelmingly powerful EVERYTHING' or 'talcum powder'

 

I guess that's what aftershave is for, which I do also use, so it's not too bad. I just get paranoid about being a stinky git.

Dry wipe markers are always handy for marking machines

anti static wipes

some of those long cotton bud style cleaners

compressed air

collection of pens that teachers leave in your office

most important thing is paperclips! they can be macgyvered into any tool needed and so handy for hitting those depressed reset buttons.
