What are these called - connectors

Sorry but I cant for the life of me think what these are called. I normally buy my data kit from comms express , but cant find anything like this on there site. any ideas where Id get something like this from.

Need to plum in a new interactive projector and got this trunking could I get the connectors to fit in there or would it be better just putting it in a box above?

Those modular ones are Tech connect.

They should fit in the trunking - you may or may not need a dry wall style back box.

 

I usually get bits and pieces like this from AVPartsmaster or CBCComputers or as part of a larger order with the projector and speakers etc. from VeryPC.

You won't get the connectors into the dado trunking - not enough depth.

 

The thing you're looking for is (modular) AV wall plates/interface boxes. As provided by the likes of CPC and Hills components.

it's an AV multimedia faceplate and they break very easy under normal classroom use, to make one fit your trunking you'd need a standard trunking back box.

They will fit in certain types of dado if it's deep enough but the only way to work that out would be to measure the depth you have and the depth you need.

 

You can then put a dado backbox in the dado.

 

Alternatively surface mount the standard patress box you get in the kit above or below the dado and conceal the wiring in the dado.

Other option is to get a riser for the dado back box to make enough room I've had that done before so the dado is shallow for the cables and amps, you put in the normal dado back box and it has riser that fixes to it to make it stick out and be deeper but be warned people will walk into it and break it off and make a mess.

Mounted below the dado, the connections face downwards so there is less risk of damage, and the box is steel!

To echo what others have said those are made by TechConnect. You have a modular Face place with a wall mounted back box. You can get them mounted in your trunking if it's deep enough. I can't tell from the photo. If you are running mains in the trunking already it will need to be segregated. It will have to be 2 or 3 compartment trunking to meet regs with the mains in it's own compartment.

 

You can populate the face plate with whatever modules you like. HDMI is becoming popular and I like to include an amp in there (about £60) and then we just have to mount the speakers. I've started to use ceiling mounted speakers to reduce vandalism.

 

All in all a really tidy solution.

Well I Am old school, I was first School IT tech in the Wirral back in 1988 Good old Nimbus and BBC's so I am happy to be Old School, lot less pressure then as no-one new what a real computer was.
