Picked it up earlier in the week but haven't really had a chance to play it so I've only got as far as the first Gwent game. The story and graphics/music seem great but so far, like the previous witcher games, the controls themselves seem a bit clunky. Maybe it's just me and I need more skill/practice though :)

Bit early on for me to really make a decision on it either way though. One thing I would say is anyone expecting an open world sandbox like fallout or the elder scrolls it going to be disappointed as it's a very different kind of game.

I keep seeing it in the shops and contemplating picking it up. But just never seem to bring myself to it. Will probably wait until it's been out there a bit before I bite it. Or until you lovely edugeekers tel me it's fantastic then I might!

Bought it the other day. Random thoughts...

So far I like it (disclaimer, played and like 1&2). I've died about 15 times because I forgot the Witcher puts things that you can just about take on and things that'll eat you within about a hundred yards of each other - be prepared to run away a lot.

Having said that, (comparatively) high-level bandits are a bit too easy once you get the shrapnel bombs.

Bears are less flammable than I'd like and look a bit too much like rocks.

Haven't played the gwent mini-game (didn't really play the mini-games in the previous versions either).

I'm tempted to see if there's a "you tripped over your beard in combat and died" mechanic.

Regarding open world....kinda - it's big (so far), but it's not Skyrim/Morrowind "I see something in the distance! I shall trek the endless wastes to find out it was just a strange-looking tree that hadn't quite rendered".

It looks gorgeous - walking around at sunrise/sunset is brilliant (if dangerous should a monster attack from the sun).

I have it for PC and think it's great... never player the first two. As others have said, controls can be a little frustrating at times but that doesn't spoil the game at all.

Great story/side missions, characters, animations, sound, music, gfx etc..... probably be my GOTY (will have to see how Batman plays out).

Started playing last night, loving the Gwent mini game, makes a nice change from Dice Poker. Though I enjoyed that too.

I like the fact that we're doing Witcher work again, in depth research and prep before doing something (Devil in a Well being the only one I've done so far, but if they're all like that then no complaints!), seems like they've ramped the combat up a bit more, one wrong move and it's reload save time on Blood and Bones difficulty.

My graphics card didn't really like running on Ultra, I'm getting about 45-50 on High, 35ish on Ultra, got a new one arriving tomorrow though. It's coming with a Witcher 3 code for GoG that expires on the 31st, so if anyone knows anyone who is, or is interested in it, give me a shout, letting it go fairly cheap :p

Been really enjoying it (I'm a fan of the other 2 and the books).

It does seem to open up quite a lot after the first big event in the first map (don't want to spoil anything) but does seem to be quite heavily level-gated. Have ran into stuff that has been 3 or 4 times my level quite quickly by running off on my own(although hasn't been impossible to kill stuff a lot higher than me, even on the second to highest difficulty) so can imagine it's quite easy to get overwhelmed by exploring. The Witcher sense mode is quite an interesting take though and does add a bit of a different dimension to it, looking for peoples footsteps/blood/clues to what people have left behind etc - reminds me a lot of the detective mode from the arkham games.

Enjoying it a lot and can't wait to play more.
