I've set up a school twitter account (by request) and I am wondering... who should I follow?

Currently I'm following TES Primary, Challenger Troop, a local radio station (2BR) and something else...

do you guys have any school twitter accounts that I can follow?

Thanks!

Does it matter? I mean, what's the point in following people other than getting info you need? Says the twitter noob whose only experience is from the school feed.

We followed the local bus companies for obvious reasons and a couple of local papers so we can retweet relevant stuff, but other than that I don't think there's much point in following anyone else. I followed the DfE early on out of a sense of "that seems sensible" but it mostly just fills the feed with carp.

I suppose it doesn't really matter who I follow... just so people who follow me can see who else might be of interest. I've found a few local high schools...

We follow school departmental accounts on the main school twitter account.

Various depts have SchoolInitials-SubjectArea for communicating things to students (revision notes, deadlines, resources) and replying to queries from students ("no, "X" isn't a suitable topic for coursework Jeremy, have a look at $thingy instead"). We follow them on the main account so parents/students can work out whether they're legitimate.

Like Pete, we follow the college departments and we hope they follow us. We also follow our feeder schools, the local emergency services, the local trains and buses, the local council and our MP. We didn't have to unfollow her after the recent election.

We are a secondary school and I have built the twitter account up over 3 years. I dont follow anyone else other than the School PE twitter page.

The reason for this is the twitter page it purly to advertise events and information from the school. I find the best way to get the info out is to add pictures to your tweets, people read it. This is proven looking at the Analytics - https://analytics.twitter.com

This used to be emailed to you, but no longer it.

Our highest view was when it got retweeted by the Raspberry Pi Official account.

I guess anyone that you think may tweet information you'd like to be able to retweet quickly... Local radio stations are usually good if they tweet news articles, or some have separate Twitter accounts for their news teams... then BBC news maybe...

I manage ours, though we don't do a lot with it... but I try to minimise the accounts followed in case people think it's an endorsement of some kind.

Several departments at my school have their own Twitter accounts too, which the school account follows, but it's a rule that no school Twitter accounts should ever follow student accounts - to force any communication to be through official school email.
