How do you enable end user to install their home printer on work laptops. As most printer drivers come bundled up in a setup file. This is on windows 8.1 or do you find most of the drivers in the OS?

They have to have local admin to install a host-based printer. You can try installing it for them, but a lot of the setup packages require the printer to be present.

On 8.1 using our directaccess setup I've been using SCCM remote control to do it for them over the phone, they call in once they have a UAC box on screen, I do the credentials and hang on until a test page gets spat out and then I move on. I've agreed some extra hours late working to cover it.

Simple answer as I wouldn't, there is a data loss issue here. Staff could print out all sorts and you have no ideas. If they want to print they do it at work simple as I would say.

We ask for the make and model of the printer and we install them in the office for them. If the installation requires the printer to be plugged in and there is no "Plug in later" option, we ask that they bring the printer in.
