Sagima Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Due to my falling out with Dell last year and my sudden need* to replace my physical domain controller does anyone have a preference on rack server suppliers or recommend one I've missed. My plan was to spec a reasonable DC with Lenovo and HP and buy whichever one was cheapest - I was thinking about IBM but I'm not sure if they still make them. Admittedly this will probably mean I buy al my servers from that manufacturer from now on as I'm not big on change. *2 disk raid failure in a fortnight - boss says as it's 5 years old just buy a new one
Norphy Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Lenovo took over IBM's server business last year. Assuming you want to stay tier one, I think your choices are Dell, HP, Lenovo or Fujitsu. You could look at SuperMicro resellers too, Broadberry make pretty reasonable servers based on SuperMicro chassis.
Snuffkins Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 It's not one that often comes up, but having used a Cisco UCS blade chassis for the last 18 months, I've seen quite a lot of info on the C Series rack mount servers they do. Not sure what the pricing is like on those mind, but might be worth a look anyway. Used to be a Dell house here server wise.
Gardinho Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) We only buy HP DL rack servers and I can honestly say we have never had any issues. I've had to use the business support once, and it was top drawer. Edited March 18, 2015 by Gardinho 1
newpersn Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Stone Computers do severs. we got 2 here and not had any problem with them. 1

JRowley Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 HP DL series rack servers all day everyday. Very much this ^ 1
john Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Looks at the huge numbers of HP DL's that we have in many racks globally... I've used HP DL's for years and years and they are great. We also use ML and BLs from them and again all great kit 1
Sagima Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Thanks. Will probably be HP then. I was leaning towards their switches as well and my boss likes their all-in-ones. Maybe time to get him to get us an account manager there.
