FragglePete Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Morning, Come in this morning to what appears no internet connection. However, noticed devices on the Transparent Proxy are working, but anything using the usual proxy addresses is broke. Just me or anyone else? On the phone to our LEA Helpdesk now. Pete
pirran Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Same here - SWGFL in Cornwall. No phone call, no information - the usual service. Time to say goodbye to the contract.
Steve21 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Intermittent connectivity problems in SWGfL Incident Report for RM Internet & E-safety Investigating We are aware some customers are experiencing intermittent connectivity issues in SWGfL. We are currently investigating this now. Mar 12, 08:35 UTC This incident affects: SWGfL Connectivity (Bath & N.E. Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, N. Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay, Wiltshire). Boo fix it! Steve
SchoolsBroadband Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Talk Talk wholesale have a huge outage due to a Zayo fibre issue. This is affecting over 30,000 connections this morning. Both we and SWGFL use them and are experiencing issues. However if you have auto DSL / FTTC failover then you'll still be up as that uses BT and not Talk Talk.
kidpressingbuttons Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Having issues here as well, nothing working on the staff proxy but normal transparent proxy seems to be working fine (by our standards) I have called the Swindon help desk- they didnt seem aware of the issue.
Steve21 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Staff Proxy working here but slow, normal proxy is the one that seems dead for us. proxy05.swgfl.ifl.net:8080 - Dead for Us proxy19.swgfl.ifl.net:8084 - Working Main SWGFL desk say it's known issue, Proxy playing up blahblah Guessed that bit! Steve
Oaktech Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Yup... Nothing doing in Poole. Link keeps dropping altogether, and when it's not down the transit is in the low 10s of kb/s
newpersn Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Normal proxy working for us Staff proxy not working (Cue staff moaning....)
Oaktech Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Just got through to swgfl and not only do they have a massive upstream provider outage, they are also being ddos'd as well so whenever they bring up an alternative route it goes down again overloaded. Today is not a good day to be SWGfL.
newpersn Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 New Incident Status: Identified We have identified the issue that has caused the poor connectivity performance in SWGfL this morning, the issue lies within our load balancing system. Our engineers are now working on a rectification plan. Further updates will follow in the next 60 mins. hmmmm :/

Boredguy Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Noticed the lack of connectivity on our cacti graphs this morning for our normal connection (but that BYoD was fine) so automatically started shunting staff over from the staff proxy to student one while waiting to get through to the SWGfL call centre (which was swamped as we would expect) Noticed the update on the status.rm.com site so hung up and I'll wait for it all to settle back down later... staff and students are informed via the intranet so nothing else left to do. Where's my cuppa!!!
Steve21 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Full connectivity has now been restored to SWGfL. Our engineers will now review the incident fully to prevent any repeat of this problem. Up! Steve

MrEprise Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Have to say this was bad timing for us as we have Ofsted in! Cue lots of very possibly angry teachers who can't teach their planned lessons. Of course, we say they should have a Plan B, but this isn't something you can easily tell them on the day. Edited March 12, 2015 by MrEprise Should have been "Cue" not "Queue"
