garethEds Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Just thought I'd come back to say where we are as a school. Our numbers this year have been great with Year 7 8 and 9 all returning - and some new members. The biggest news is that two companies have given us money to invest in our club. One of the Dads is a director of an engineering company, and a massive Warhammer fan. So his company have given us £700 to purchase some new Combat Patrols. We have been given an amazing discount by Gamers Emprium in Swansea - on top of the cheaper prices they have. A second company has given us £200 to purchase the consumables - paints, brushes etc. We have a logo, we are getting polo shirts for the inter-school matches. Due to the length of matches we will be playing 500 point ones for now and building from there. I still have no idea what I am doing - but just enjoy seeing the kids work on their skills, communicating with each other and generally enjoying themselves in a safe environment. We had a visit from the Headteacher yesterday too who spent the whole dinner hour talking to the pupils about their skills. They appreciated that she came down. So - onwards and upwards. We're always looking for sponsorship if any companies are here and want to give us stuff. Plenty of photo ops for you. 4

That sounds absolutely amazing, your students are so lucky to have someone so invested in ensuring the club is a success! - and kudos on securing the funding. If you haven't already, I'd definitely consider spending some of it on terrain, as that always helps the games feel bigger/more immersive than the good old d.i.y. hills/buildings made out of text books etc.

It's amazing how much a little sponsorship can do. Glad your kids are enjoying it. 500 point games? Guess nobody's playing Custodes then 🤪 1

Awesome. Then I'm sure the students are having an absolute blast!
Slarty66 Posted Friday at 09:49 Posted Friday at 09:49 Mentioned to one of our DT teachers about Warhammer 40k in schools and they have contacted GW to get the school education pack. https://warhammer-alliance.com/uk/schools-programme/ We have a few students that already play Warhammer so the school are looking to run a lunchtime club. I may get roped into helping .... 1
AlistairB1983 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago First game of 11th Edition with my (new) Marines tonight. Only a small 1K game, as the rest aren't built yet. But will be interesting to see how they do as compared to my Tyranids who played same opponent about a month ago and wiped the floor with them. Also counting down the days until half-term so I can get the 1K list painted up (hurrah for speed paints!) whilst little 'un is at Nursery. 2
Garacesh Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Won my first game of 11th on Friday 🥳 2K Tyranids vs Custodes, I played Assimilation Swarm/Ambush Predators using Priority Assets Started painting some more stuff over the weekend, now I remember why I stopped, edge highlight carapace is sooooooo duuullll

Garacesh Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Entirely valid. My problem is the majority of the Nids I physicall own are chaff infantry. I'd need to buy 4 Pyrovores, 2 Maleceptors, 2 Psychopages, 3 more Hive Guard, and a Lictor to make that list a reality 🤔 Edited 1 hour ago by Garacesh
