LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Or you can buy my fresh grey knights army! Most of it will be on ebay I can throw you a few links if your interested That depends what kind of pricing comes with the army, and how difficult they are to play/build/paint
thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 It's an easy army to pick up as the models I'm selling are high points cost and make up a super unit fairly difficult to master and are built and painted well ^^

PM me the links, I'll check the pricing on them.
CAM Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 @CAM could you link me to their starter sets? On the website the only things I see for £65 include 6 figs, which I presume is nowhere near enough to field a game o.o Also, why would I need plastic glue? And can you play with unpainted figures? Blocked at work. Dark Vengeance is the name, might be a bit more than £65 thinking of it, mobile site is rubbish and won't show anything but dollars. Plastic glue is for sticking them together. Assembling and painting is part of the hobby, if that doesn't sound appealing then you probably won't like it.

I'll take a look now, I found an Age of Sigmar starting set for £75 that includes 47 figures. I would like painting them, but it's very daunting seeing how they're "supposed" to look, compared to what mine would turn out like The Dark Vengeance seems to come with two separate armies... can they be combined to form a single large one? Or do the factions matter? Edited July 16, 2015 by LiamHaith
LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Also, I've been watching a few videos and everyone seems to Airbrush their figures... Does airbrushing make it easier/higher quality or can I get a super fine brush and just waft?
Leeoakley Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 You will be able to get a better price than £75. Slayer gaming were offering this last week on pre order for £60. As for airbrush, over brush its not that simple a question. The best painters in the world produce painted miniatures using a brush, but you have to take in to account that they spend most of their lives painting models - take a look at Meg Maples @ arcane paintworks. I still paint with a brush and the one thing I will say is that you wont use a really fine brush as much as you think. What you need Is a brush with a longer set of bristles as its all about the load of paint that a paintbrush holds. Look at Windsor and newton series 7 and rosemary and co for all your brush needs. Winsor and newton are the best and rosemary and co are the best for the money. Airbrushing is expensive to get in to you need to drop £150 to £300 before you even get going. If you go cheap, you'll end up having to purchase again in 6 months time. It doesn't take much to really improve your painting, if I were you id find some local gaming groups and ask if anyone can help. There is always someone at a club who knows there way round painting models well. Airbrushing is quicker but not really easier its a different skill, but imo the best models in the world are hand painted at some point. If you live near Worcester and want a hand id happily help lol.
LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 @Leeoakley I'll certainly look into it, I'm just trying to find a selection of models that I like the appearance of. That's what was concerning me is if I needed an Airbrush this whole ordeal would be outrageously expensive. In regards to distance, we're only 126 miles away from one another... pop round for a cuppa? Haha. Thanks for the advice though everyone, it's greatly appreciated. If anyone who actually plays is near to Sheffield/South Yorkshire shout out and when I have a tiny little force of whelplings we could organize a little game.
thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Ha slayer gaming's my local nice place great for gaming

thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I'm not far from some Yorkshire but sheffield town centre has a great gaming venue called the outpost they will sort you out and be more than happy to help ya!
LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 @thepridster Your painting skills are amazing! Which army would the Paladins go in? I'm still not sure how the whole composition of units things works... mainly 'cause I've only actually read what I see here and looked at Games Workshop for the prices and model appearances. - - - Updated - - - I'm not far from some Yorkshire but sheffield town centre has a great gaming venue called the outpost they will sort you out and be more than happy to help ya! Ooh very nice to know, I'm not in Sheffield myself but they'd certainly be worth the travel I guess! I'm in Doncaster personally
thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 They would be grey knights think of jedi's put them in terminator armour and give them an unbreakable love of the emperor and unquenchable hate of all deamons and heretics and poof grey knights!

If I'm correct Grey Knights can only be put in an army of Grey Knights, right?
Leeoakley Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 lol Tom (slayer gaming) comes down and takes part in the events I run Chris at the outpost is a nice chap as well!
thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Grey knights are one of your very elite armies in 40k and probably one of the cheapest to start with as I have lists that work in 1850 games with around 15 models no vehicles ^^ think of the grey knights as the jedi's of 40k there all psykers and very good ones and there damn well trained and are very very very good at killing daemons! Orks Because ORKS ORKS ORKS they are funky and can be played many different ways and if your decently quick with them they usually make a game fun for both people Necrons have been toned down a lot with there new codex and its still a very good codex and you can pretty much take the models you like and make a working army as all the units work pretty much Space marines have fantastic variety and can be built in many different ways to any play style Space wolves Like above except VIKINGS Blood angels Like above But vampires Chaos are more difficult as they do have units that just don't work in certain scenarios and you need to find a real synergy within your army list but when you do find it.... dear lord.... especially when used with daemons... Tau smell very strongly of mature cheddar and come in blocks shaped like giant battle suits basically tau are a gunline army but have access to some of the best monstrous creatures in the game especially if you like forgeworld added bonus if your into gundam Daemons tend to be very random and have very strong specific units under certqain situations certain gods give you advantages in certain scenarios and whats not to love about big Daemon princes and greater daemons the models are beautiful Eldar Damn quick and deadly lots of specialised units and THE best transport in the game that makes you cry every time you hear serpent shield also smell faintly of edam Dark eldar I don't really know these guys very well but have played a few armies with them as allies usually elder they have some nice units and they can hit damn hard ! I think the unit I was impressed with was grotesques but I could be wrong imperi... astra militarium I haven't played much of these but the themes tends to be massive units of infrantry that blind everyone with there blinky lights or lots and lots and even more tanks.... pretty cool army to play and can be very effective against the usually nails lists Inquisition usually a codex that's allied with others you get cool guys who have very cool artifacts for not many points who buff your amry in various ways brilliant special characters and are kind like judge dredd of the 40k universe Imperial Knights I haven't seen many people use these as a full army but I have seen these as allies they can be crippling against massed infranty or deathstars very big walkers with very big swords that cleave and stomp anything that survives the initial shelling http://awscdn.cdngeek.net/images/smilies/smile.png hope this helps!
Leeoakley Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 has anyone else got pics of their models, would be great to see some? I haven't painted any GW models in ages, but I will dig some other its out.
thepridster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 lol Tom (slayer gaming) comes down and takes part in the events I run Chris at the outpost is a nice chap as well! we may well have ran into eachother at some point then!
LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 @thepridster The army breakdowns help, but what I mean is... Could I for example use your 11 Grey Knights in an army of Blood Angels? Or do Grey Knights go with Grey Knights, so on and so forth?

LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 God damn.... you've got grass and scenery and everything!
Leeoakley Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 lol, I run events, not sure why I do it but I do I built 15 tables and a load terrain.....I must be nuts. I use one of the training rooms from the technical training business I run to host gaming days. It is good fun! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b101/leeoaks/10943032_829170423811198_4597632404586529726_n_zps813yj4x1.jpg
LiamHaith Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I should come down sometime and just stand in the corner and watch how real men use their little toy men
Leeoakley Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 lol.....we aren't very serious when we game. Most of the time there is just really bad banter.
