Hi @webman

We're looking into using clasroombookings, but before I go too far down the road with the current version, I thought I'd better find out if you have an eta for the new version. Any news?

Thanks

We have used this for a few years and its been great. However, I would like to be able to record what the room has been booked for, so that I can track usage against departments. Does anyone know a) if its possible to edit the code/database which runs the booking system to include new fields or b) if an alternative free booking system is available with this functionality built in?

Cheers

compbh: CRBS v1 does have a "notes" field for each booking. Version 2 will still have this, but also record which department the booking is for based on the user's department membership.

Can I be cheeky and ask when V2 will be available? (I've have asked the same question on the classroombookings site). I had issues getting V1 to work and I was about to have another go but didn't want to spend time on it if V2 is arround the corner.

Cheers.

Hi Stuart_C. I'm hoping for a summer release of v2, so please try v1 again if you want something in the interim. It needs PHP version 4 - 5.2 (won't work on 5.3).

We currently use a system written by our "Head of eLearning" which is coming to an end (I don't know why). I've been trying out all the main ones: mrbs, crbs, erbs.

mrbs: hear a lot of positive things about it, but need documentation! I have it working (although can't get AD intergration to work yet, which I would like) but can't figure out how to set it up . I'm aware there are many threads and threads within threads for mrbs on here, but has anyone compiled any kind of central reserve of documentation?

erbs: I quite like the simplicity but how does the "Use LDAP Authentication" work? It doesn't have any details - server name, account details, AD structure, etc.

crbs: nice system, although it's a shame it doesn't have AD integration. I'm also getting various errors - error if you go past last week, error if you click the "Make Recurring Booking" button. Is v2 imminent? Should I hold off for this? Or is there still support for v1?

Edit: I tried bookit and potentially looks good, but the popup's (logging in etc.) are too annoying.

Edit2: Why oh why can't Liberum make a booking system!

Im using MRBS here, im having problems in locking down new rooms, ive got it hoocked up to our AD and all is fine, but it lets any user in the allowed OU's to log in and book, its got a function to find users in a group and load them as admins, i cant figure out how to modifiy it so i can lock a room down to just maths and admins, or just science and admins extra.

Hi,

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

Recently installed Classroombookingsystem on WAMP (Server 2012) it all seems to work ok except when clicking on the 'bookings' link when I get the following:

A PHP Error was encountered

Severity: Notice

Message: Trying to get property of non-object

Filename: models/bookings_model.php

Line Number: 217

Control Panel Logout

Logged in as administrator

Isambard Community School

Room: Trolley 1

A configuration error prevented the timetable from loading: no week configured.

Please contact your administrator.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben

It looks like it should have expected some data, but couldn't find any. It says, "no week configured" - does today's date fall within a configured week? You can check this by going to Week Cycle, and ensuring that the academic year is set up and that a week entry exists for this week.

Ha! I set the academic year starting in September, was expecting the calendar to start then. Thanks, glad it was just me being dumb!

I'm new to WAMP, so if you don't mind me asking: On a client machine I can currently view the WAMP homepage and access all the tools/PHP info but when I try to view the booking system I'm told that the page can't be displayed.

I've been using MRBS for a number of years now, multiple installations on the same webserver, all linked together, bound to AD.

Its perfect for us, highly recommended and I am happy to assist with any installation woes!

I need help, I've installed it but I cannot get it to work with AD, it wants me to add the users manually and won't see them from AD.

help please.

Classroombookings does not currently have any LDAP/AD integration, but you can import users in bulk from CSV.

FIXED!!

I am currently trying to install classroombooking onto a 1and1 server as our linux box is starting to creak.

I have set up the dbase and moved all files across but when I browse to the index.php i get

404 Page Not Found

The page you requested was not found.

Which is different from their 404 if the folder or file does not exist.

I gave full 777 permision to it and then the whole foldr (just for testing) but still have the same result.

Do you have any suggestions?

FIXED!!!

I was putting localhost as hostname but it needed to be the one provided by 1and1 in the mysql section.

Hi reggiep,

Sorry I use MRBS not classroombooking. If you have a DNS and hosting package with 1&1 I would suggest just contacting their technical support, some hosting providers can have background storage/permissions issues that aren't immediately apparent.

Sorry I can't be of more help,

Craig

I've just installed this today. It was very easy to install, and seems to work well, although I haven't tried it on the masses yet,

just one question - what is the department used for? I've set them up but can't see where they are used?

@Bev

Its for when you create your users of the system, they can be categorized into departments from the dropdown menu,

Have a nice day :)

Ah, I did mine with a CSV file, so I didn't see that.

Unfortunately, most of our staff work in more than one department so that doesn't work quite so well for me, but it's not a big deal.

Hi Bev

It was my intention that this could later be used in multiple places (e.g. for rooms), but for now it is just to assign users to. This is really only useful if you want to run reports against bookings to break down by department. There isn't any built in reporting features, but I do have a handful of useful SQL queries, one of which, I think, uses departments.

So the short version is it's not really that useful at the moment, but it was planned to be! :)

Craig.
