See, when I try it I don't get the double leading \. That's very odd, possibly affected by your AD User Home Folder settings (Profile tab). What are they set to?

My student home folder redirection is set to:

Setting: Basic (Redirect everyone's folder to the same location)hide

Path: %HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%\Documents

and I just ensure when I create the users home folder I create a "documents" folder...

In AD the students home folder - local path is set to : \\ServerName\"Username"$

In AD, we set the User's Home folder property to \\servername\users\pupils\intakeyear\%username%\documents. Then in GP, we set the folder redirection to "Basic - Redirect everyone's folder to the same location" and "Redirect to the user's home directory". This seems to prevent the renaming bug that you are seeing.

if you are using folder redirection in GPO, it should look something like this......(\\server\Homefolders\%username%\files).......... Microsoft names the folder "files". also make sure you untick 'grant exclusive rights to the document folder', that can throw things out as well. in the group policy make sure you have set it to 'redirect the documents folders to the following location'.

This is how mine is set up and things are working fine. If you need any more info, let me know.

Not necessarily - the GP settings enable you to set different redirection locations for different groups, so if you add each year group's members to a group, then assign folder redirection depending on those groups, you can do it one GPO.

I have one GPO serving everyone, staff, students, visitor accounts. Aslong as you use security groups and not distribution groups they will map fine. Distribution groups won't work. Make sure that users are a member of the specific group as well.

Just realized that my documents is working but nothing else is, My videos or pictures. In the event log on the machine i am seeing "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder Videos. But my videos isnt redirected. I create something in videos and it doesnt show in the user area?

This has all seemed to stop working since i migrated our file server. Would this have anything to do with share permissions or permissions at all?

It doesnt seem to be working setting it to follow the documents folder. The event log says that it is successful but when i create something new in My videos it isnt displayed in the user area
