This stuff pops up every little while, and every single time there's claims of amazing results, and dodgy videos. Yet no-one has actually gone to a proper set of physicists and had the thing studied and peer reviewed. Its been going on for nearly 100 years now. Are people really that gullible?

Not to be funny, but around 22% of the global population don't believe that the sun is a star, and around 40% of the worlds population believe evolution is a hoax...so yes, people are that gullible.
