With the removal of Clip Art by Microsoft, what are techs advising schools/teachers use instead? I have a very irate Headteacher who uses the functionality a lot. Within our team the suggestion would appear to be Bing Images, Google Images or something similar. Would be interested in hearing other peoples experiences.

i diddnt think it was being removed from existing office versions just from office 2015+ and id lay odds that it has a clipart browser in it that jsut links to bing rather than links to c:

If only. In Word 2013 it has gone, and although you can select it in Word 2010, nothing is displayed, only what is on your local PC. Wjhen you try and follow the link to Office.com from within Word, it takes you to a page unavailable web page.

Think this must just be your system. Works fine here. As @Steve21 said, Insert - Online Pictures, type what you're searching for in the Office.com Clip Art box and off you go.

But the issue that the school have is with Clip Art in Word/Office 2010.

You sure you don't have it disabled via GPO etc? Always been working everytime I used 2010.

Good point. I'll check on one of the office machines here that is still using 2010 and report back.

I didn't think anyone still used clipart? Depending on how it will be used they could always just search for images with google.

...as long as they are careful about copyright.

For those people with clipart working, have they updated office (using windows update/wsus) For me, I've found if they've been recently updated, web clipart is no longer available...

So pleased to find this post. I was banging my head against the wall with my IT Director as to why what worked last week didn't work today. It's nice to know this is NOT an isolated problem.

Because we are halfway through our project (ABC books with clipart) we will finish with the photos or go to a clipart site online. I'm not going to start using Google Images or Bing with 2nd and 3rd graders yet. I told them they couldn't use photos because of file size and printing, but that's what we'll probably do. It seems the server hosting clipart was disconnected. Maybe they'll hear from some schools and plug it back in. Many schools survive on old technology and old software runs well on old technology. I'm at a private school that doesn't have funding for new tech. Or support hours to update or install newer tech. My school is running Office 2003. I will update to 2010, but I guess it won't improve the clipart issue.

The toughest problem with this is no information on Microsoft website. Just "not supported". I did leave some comments for them. Hope it is read.

If I sound frustrated it's because I am, and no you are not alone with the problem.

As an update to my previous post:

Yep. Gone for us now, too. Please accept my apologies for doubting your knowledge @Alfred_Bester.

Oh dear, Microsoft. What HAVE you done?! Perhaps if enough people petition them, they may bring it back in a Windows 10 Start Menu kinda fashion.

Edit: Just tested the Bing image search through Word. Typed in 'sausage' and was presented with some fine examples of culinary delights, until I scrolled down a little further and saw a pair of barely covered breasts with a sausage between them.

I've just discovered something which makes this more interesting. I have had the same problem as everyone else, it seems that ClipArt has just stopped working which coinsided with the Microsoft announcement to stop providing Clip Art, however, if I connect a laptop to my phone and use it as a hotspot I get the images discovered online so it seems this may be a proxy / firewall issue.

We are finding that Clipart is disappearing gradually after computers are updated via windows updates.

Its frustrating as the only one to actually need to use clip art daily went first!

Ironically, due to some child protection issues/esafety measures, my local authority have banned BING (it immediately redirects to google) which prevents me from allowing my users to get clipart full stop.

Anyone aware of any way to ask Office to look at google or any other repository for clipart images?

How VERY dare they ;-)
