yeah - ISScript 9 the driver uses. Its got ISScript 8 installed and I did wonder whether you could have multiple versions running - stupid IS ppl ;)

I'll try that then and pray ;)

EDIT: So if u changed the product id of a isscript installer to something like:

10000000000000000000000011 for ISScript 11

10000000000000000000000009 for ISScript 09

etc... you could install each one you alter in this fashion correct? [providing those product id's havent been used already that is hehe]

Cheers

Yes, I see what you mean. I usually do a different config for laptops that will be used offline.

Does it work OK if you make it an offline folder?

I haven't tried it to be honest.. the few offline machines that have AS2 installed get a local install (we don't have many so it's not really an issue). Synchronising shared flipcharts full of large digital photos could get annoying quite quickly - I guess it depends on what your teachers are producing. At least they'd be getting the stuff produced in-house though (if your teachers can be coerced into sharing that is).

Sweet zombie jesus - all working :)

Thanks to you all for the info [especially Richie].

Fully automated [havent checked to see whether the serial number is populated or not on new installs ...as i havent done one yet] with the resources & help = all deployed through the GP - and the very latest version 2.5.something.

I think i may have a pint tonight to celebrate lol ;)

...or better yet - rag puddin' ;) ;) [in-house joke there ;)]

Thanks for the thank Tarquel :)

I was glad to help - I've only just started on the road of GPO installs and RIS (we're phasing out Ghost) and Activstudio was one bit of software i'd recently pushed out. I'm slowly going through the school's collection of software converting it all to msi or, at the very least, silent installs pushed out at the end of RIS installation.

I'm sure I'll be the one asking questions of this forum soon enough (struggling at the moment to build a silent SIMS.net install for one ;) - only the one i've made so far doesn't pick up workstation updates and throws up an error when going in to Nova T.... bloody SIMs grrrrr).

I am Really Really sorry about this!!!! I wish I had it earlier this week to save people all this trouble.

Would someone trial the beta AS2.5 MSI for me, I am looking for 3 sites prefably.

We have also created an application to enter the serial number so you don't need to edit the as2pe.dat

There is no MSI for the driver yet. Soon!!

PM me.

I am away on a WinINSTALL course right now and during that I have learned a SHED load more about msi's and how they work. Should *hopefully* be able to get you guys a MSI that installs IIS engine and then installs Active Studio if anyone needs still. I currently use a WinINSTALL Nai to do it here and it works a treat. The joy of being able to execute external commands (e.g. when installing run setup.exe -S for silent say) that way the vendor MSI does all the work ;)

Dan, I don't get it... The driver I downloaded from the Promethean web site (ver 3.0.5) IS an MSI and I've deployed it fine. Still have to do the manual fix though. Can you tell me what you are changing in the 'new' MSIs?

Its to get rid of this message when double clicking on the msi. It will not be reliant on a setup.exe

Plus it stops you guys/gals having to mess to get it to work. It will just work.

Yep, we have started from scratch with them all. To suit single and deployment mode. It will eventually be on the standard cd.

The cc3 version has the extra writeaccess.ini to allow the voting and slate files to be written to and icon files so that the nice easy interface of system admin can be used to deploy it including Icons.

Fair play guys.

Its good when a company listens to its users :) :)

...now MS, please give out your software for free to the hardworking IT staff in education - on account of their willingness to use your software...... please?..... ah, dang it lol

:D

Dan - I'd be interested in the MSI packages. I have 26 Promethean whiteboards in my care and it can get a bit tiring having to go round them to install the software and sort the license bit.

Will this work with both serial and usb?

does anyone else have anymore information about deploying active studio silently

i was able to deploy version 2.1.23 as a msi, i had to change the msi in orca a bit(cant remember what i did tho, should of saved it as a transform than changing the actual msi itself.)

was able to do the same with resources 2.0.8 again altering the msi.

the driver deployed straight away with no alterations but i need to test the new driver anyway. we also use TDS boards which need the boardmate driver that was repackaged with wininstall and worked fine.

my only problem is now deploying the updates specificly ACTIVstudio_PE_v2.5.101_Update.exe i havent been able to find anyway to apply this patch other than manually.

also i used WIWW and put on ISS 7,8,9,11 but dont have copies of 10 and 10.5
