We had that the other night, very low, large and red just over the top of the horizon. Sadly I was driving and couldn't stop to take a pic.

I was lucky to get the photos I got because it was covered by cloud not long afterward that was taken!

At Silverstone today for the Festival. There was about half an hour (in total) when it didn't rain. Yesterday was fine, tomorrow's forecast is fine. I only had a ticket for today...

My girlfriend and I went to Heysham on Saturday to see the 8th century Saxon chapel. The church shown started as a larger (replacement) version of the smaller, now ruined original in the 9th century by the Saxons. The large nNorse stone, which you can view in the church was a viking burial stone and, according t the warden we spoke too, was for a very high-status viking.

The 'graves' are actually ossuaries (to put bones, rather than bodies in) and I learnt this weekend, used on the cover for Black Sabbeths greatest hits album.

The warden asked if we knew the band and if they were popular

We had orginally intended to go and see Sambo's grave at Sunderland Point, just south of Heysham as I'd never been and there is a nice walk there, but I didn't know the road there was a tidal causeway, and it was flooded when we got to it!

There’s a little village fairly close to me called Kippford. It’s by an estuary of a river called the Urr Water. There’s a couple of pubs and a boating club, so you always see lots of yachts in the water. Very pretty place. Anyway, we’ve been there many times but always during the day. We went to one of the pubs there a couple of evenings back when the sun started to go down, so I got a picture of the sunset which came out pretty well

Nice. I do enjoy an old church, a lot of my cycling routes involve rest points in country churchyards! The ones which are open so you can look around are good, but I do understand why they don't all risk that. One even has an insulated picnic box and chilled water bottles in for passing walkers - quite a few people visit, as it is the only church on the Ridgeway, literally ON, the Ridgeway runs through the churchyard!
