JATSO Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 This was one of my entries into our last club competition. I got 19/20 for it. Nice one, well done, we mark out of 5 at out camera club. Our season has finished now but were waiting for results back from some of entries entered into the Northern Counties Federation Annuals. I put some prints in they seem to score them out of 1-15 mine came back highest being an 11. I wished I had done them in A3 in stead of A4 as most entries were A3, they just have more impact when viewed, in my opinion.
HarryMonkey Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I print mine at A4. I sometimes wish I'd spent a bit more and got an A3 but there's always DS Colourlabs for any A3 I might need. 1
Millgate_Jon Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Hi Everyone - Are any of you photographers into motorsport and fairly local to Silverstone? I`m racing there in June and would happily sort a ticket for you in exchange for some pics of me out on track and round the paddock etc. Cheers Jon.
enjay Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 (edited) Since we're sharing waterfall photos, here's one I took at Lodore Falls in the Lake District Edited April 30, 2024 by enjay 3

enjay Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Third time lucky? Yeah, I was having problems adding the image. My toolbar has decided to hide itself!
arwen Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Thanks! After years of simply taking photos without much of a plan I've been going to a photography group for about 6 months now. It's been fun and I've learned a lot from it, aswell as forcing myself to take different styles of photos. 1
HarryMonkey Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I've got a lot out of being part of my local camera club. 1

Our season has just closed as we only run fir 6 months of the year. I run the competitions and the club website using Google Sites, pretty basic, but provides a web presence plus its free except for the domain name registration. It's well worth being a member of a club or group as there is so much you can learn and share with others with the same interests. My partner is my biggest critic though. I'm not a million miles away, and have previous experience with motorsport photography if you want to pm me some details!
Popular Post JATSO Posted May 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2024 A lot of you may have been up looking up towards the sky on Friday night and some of you may have been well tucked up in bed. Here are my captures from that night, take from Weardale in County Durham. 10
Ditto Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I think they are the most stunning shots I've seen all weekend - including from mainstream media organisations. 2
Dos_Box Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 @JATSO They are amazing pics! I'm gutted I missed the show on Friday night, still never really seen them, but I'll play the waiting game! 1
JATSO Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Been out looking at the pretty lights, have we? I suppose it could have been this. https://haarp.gi.alaska.edu/
mikeprice Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 I think they are the most stunning shots I've seen all weekend - including from mainstream media organisations. Yes - they do look good I have heard from several people that phone cameras - and presumably other digital cameras - have actually often produced much better effects than the naked eye can presumably due to some of the lights being slightly beyond the eyes visual range but just inside the cameras range
enjay Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 I have heard from several people that phone cameras - and presumably other digital cameras - have actually often produced much better effects than the naked eye can presumably due to some of the lights being slightly beyond the eyes visual range but just inside the cameras range I've heard that too, but I also remember people taking photos of the lights previously and remarking the photos weren't as good as the actual sight, so something has apparently shifted in phone technology since then.
mavhc Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 In the dark humans see in black and white, a modern phone camera in night mode can take multiple shots and stack them, or a slr on a tripod can take long exposures, to gather more light over time

It does take a second or so to take the picture, but I don't know if it is doing long exposure or stacking shots.

HarryMonkey Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 If anyone's interested, Affinity 2 photo editing software now has 50% off (It's a one off fee rather than a subscription). https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/ 1
