Disease Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Went to Canada in April and Tried my first attempt at Long Exposure photography at Niagra Falls. Not had a chance to edit them in Lightroom yet, just cropped. 3
HarryMonkey Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Our club meets again soon to discuss our categories for next season from September and I will propose that they have the creative category as permanent part of any future competition to try and persuade members not to use AI-Gen images in competitions. Let me know how you get on. We might just have to implement something similar in our club. 1
mavhc Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Now you have to define AI, is clicking the "auto fix" button AI? Or the "remove object" button?
HarryMonkey Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Now you have to define AI, is clicking the "auto fix" button AI? Or the "remove object" button? Indeed. Also, Photoshop has had the facility to change the sky at the click of a mouse for some time now.
mavhc Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 You can manually edit 1 pixel at a time, or use a loop, and the pixels can be programmed to read local pixels, but don't have any feedback so it can learn anything itself. I'd split it into 2 categories: 1) you took a photo and then gave the competition the file the camera made with no edits, and 2) you didn't do that
enjay Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I'd split it into 2 categories: 1) you took a photo and then gave the competition the file the camera made with no edits, and 2) you didn't do that Now there's an interesting idea, a "completely unedited" category. I suspect that category would be won by phone photographers, certainly I can take photos with my Pixel 7 which I couldn't with my Canon EOS. To clarify, the EOS is probably capable, but I don't have the expertise to get all the settings in the right place, quick enough to photograph a moving target, and to time the shutter click just right (the Pixel records a short video if the subject moves, so you can fast forward/rewind a bit to select the exact frame you want, which is a god-send if photographing children or animals).
mavhc Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 That is a problem, if your camera has built in AI like every phone. Even exposure settings in phones have AI now
JATSO Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 (edited) I think the the Photographer from North Yorkshire pretty much sums it for me. AI has its place but its not photography its a creative tool 'an add, on I would call it' use it if you wish but don't pass it off as a photograph or digital image and say you took it with a camera. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-65932542 Edited June 20, 2023 by JATSO
Roberto Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) I’m not really a photographer but I’m quite pleased with this view over the harbour in Split. And this view of the mountains from Trogir cathedral clock tower , nearby Edited June 21, 2023 by Roberto 2

Andrew_C Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Did you intend to post in this thread? https://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?t=132256Nope - I wasn't involved in the swimming, and apparently they don't sting.

JATSO Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 With all the excitement of the Blue Super Moon last week, I went over to Wharton Park in Durham to see what I could capture over Durham Cathedral. This is the result: 4

JATSO Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 How long was that taken over? Very impressive! Thanks, about 2hrs using a DJI Pocket 2 +power bank both tripod mounted. The photos were taken on my Canon R5and RF100-500 @500mm the footage and images mixed in Adobe Rush. 1
JATSO Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Cool! What's the tune? Thanks, its a freebie from the Adobe Rush software I just listened to the choices and picked that one as it timed well for the footage. 1
JATSO Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 The timing and effect of the clouds coming through was a bit of extra magic! Yes clouds do add some magic in a time-lapse.
