Picked up a cheap finepix S1500 last year and took some snaps of my mums dogs: After that, I moved on to photographing my other passion, motorcycles: After, I swapped for an S4200 instead: This month, I've picked up a Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm VR2 lens, and have a Tamron 28-200 and a Holga lens on its way to me. Haven't really taken any pics yet, but will be taking it out to Brands next month for the BSB, so I should have plenty more pictures to share. Looks like I'll have to create a flickr account!

I've just purchased myself two new lenses: Tamron 300mm Adaptamatic f/5.6 (made sometime between 1969 - 1972) Vivitar (Komine) 200mm f/3.5 Both for £70 delivered. I've had the standard "kit" lens and another slightly wonky telephoto lens also, but they're just not very good at all (especially as they're both now moldy inside due to my old house). I've never really thought about getting old lenses. Might have a look at some old Canon FD lenses and adapt down from them. There's some amazing glass out there for very little money.

There's some amazing glass out there for very little money. The old glass is great but it doesn't work as well on modern DSLR's. When you add an adapter, the distance from the sensor to the lens is increased which changes how the lens functions (the field of view will be different (more 'zoomed') and you most likely wont be able to focus to infinity etc). That, to me at least, is one of the biggest benefits of Mirrorless because to keep them thin, the sensor isn't set back very far so you can add an adapter/lens and it'll function exactly as it would on an old film camera as the distance from Sensor to Lens is the same. On that note, I think i may have developed a slight addiction... I won three more last night!!! Got a Canon 50mm F1.4, Canon 28mm SCC 2.8 and a Vivitar 135mm 2.8 on the way To pay for the above, I'm selling my Samyang 35mm F1.4. It's a cracking lens, just doesnt feel quite right on my Sony A7.

Until now, in most countries in Europe you were safe to take and publish photographs that are taken from public ground – This is called Freedom of Panorama. When you were on vacation, you could take a photo from the London Eye and share it with your friends on Facebook*. If someone wanted to pay you for using this photo, that was okay as well. But this is about to change may destroy photography as we know it. Julia Reda, member of the European Parliament, tried to bring the Freedom of Panorama to all countries of the EU, as few countries like France and Italy don’t have such law yet. In the majority of countries such as the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and Croatia, you’re safe to take, publish and sell photos of public buildings when taken from public grounds. However, the current draft turned the proposal upside down. Instead of bringing the Freedom of Panorama to the few countries that don’t know such law yet, it would take it away from all those who do. With this, Street-, Travel- and Architecture-Photography would be dead as we know it. It is impossible to find out the architect of every public building in order to ask for permission before you can publish and possibly sell the photo. I therefore call on the members of the European Parliament to Not limit the Freedom of Panorama in any way and instead to Bring the Freedom of Panorama to all member states of the EU so that the European Citizens can be assured to act within the law when taking and publishing photographs of public buildings anywhere in the European Union. This is necessary to embrace our European Culture and Art! In addition to signing the petition, here you can find an exemplary e-mail that you can send to your local representative in the parliament: E-Mail So far the e-mail is available in English, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish. *As Julia Reda, member of the European Parliament, points out, even the private upload of a photograph on Facebook would need the consent of the architect, as with the upload you grant Facebook a license to commercially use the photograph.
