Joanne Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) OH MY LIFE!!! I AM FINALLY ENROLLED IN VPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so simple, yet so complex. It's taken me 3 months, but I'm finally there. I thank you. Edited October 13, 2014 by ZeroHour
newpersn Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Guessing its this https://www.apple.com/uk/education/it/vpp/
foofighterjim Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 This afternoon a member of SLT will approach you and ask you to configure the 60 Nexus 7s the school has just brought.
Joanne Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 no they won't because I've spent the IT budget already :-P My iPads are already up and running, but just have free apps on them. Now we can actually BUY apps LEGALLY. Hurray!
Pyroman Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 no they won't because I've spent the IT budget already :-P My iPads are already up and running, but just have free apps on them. Now we can actually BUY apps LEGALLY. Hurray! Have you managed to get enrolled so you can use purchase orders or just with a school credit card?
Joanne Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 No I've just enrolled. The purchase order is tomorrow's task!
Edu-IT Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 No I've just enrolled. The purchase order is tomorrow's task! Let us know how you go. Still not achieved it,
rad Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I enrolled pretty quickly once the confirmation etc was achieved. I have no idea how i did it, no idea how i set it up etc, but can just about get my head around it when needed.
Bompalompalomp Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 We had about 4 rejections (I wasn't enough confirmation, the Business Manager wasn't enough and then they rejected the Head for no reason) before I said sod it and just decided to deal with free apps forever. Turns out nobody's even asked for a paid app. :/
Joanne Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Yeah I just sent a snotty complaint e-mail saying how ridiculous it was that I couldn't do this simple task and that we were desperate to do it the right way and whatnot. I got someone who looked through all my rejections and then said oh we can do this, this and this. Just an FYI - they check the school website for the confirmation of people. Also, you have to use real names. I tried registering my first with the name "School Ipads" and "School Name" but it gets auto rejected if you do that 1
Pyroman Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! I've just talked to Apple and you can now use purchase orders to buy VPP credit via KRCS. The contact you need at KRCS is Tom Kirby 0115 985 1797. You can buy credit off them who buy it off Apple, who then send you an e-mail to redeem the credit! YEAH! No more dealing with school credit cards! 4
ButterflyMoon Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Thank you so much for this info I too will be driving down this road in the next few weeks..........................
Pyroman Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Also if you're struggling with the VPP program you can ring Apple Education on 0800 912 0207 and they'll help you. They seem to be just as annoyed with the system as us techies because the information they get obviously has to come from Apple USA and they don't appear to be the quickest company for passing information around.
Joanne Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Yeah I rang them and the guy on the phone was extremely helpful. However, even with his help my application still got rejected! MEGALOLZ!
Pyroman Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Haha! Typical! It made me laugh out ICT Co-Ordinator went to the local co-ordinators meeting at the comp down the road and they were all chatting about ipads and how they're still doing it the old school way of basically cloning iPads and we were the only school in the area doing it properly with VPP so i'm now the local iPad guru!
Joanne Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Nice. Yeah that's what I was gonna do if the VPP didn't work out. I was kinda determined not to do that though.
Pyroman Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) Yeah we didn't like it, for free Apps it's fine but for paid ones not so much. You spend so long getting your windows network straight with licenses and making sure everything is done to the letter and then it was a case of "well iPads won't do what we want to let's essentially pirate the Apps" didn't sit well with us A WORD OF WARNING: If you don't plan on using an MDM solution: You need the Apple configurator to install the Apps, and you also need to buy one more than you need because you redeem a code in itunes which uses a code to then import the App into apple configurator. Here's the technicality, you can only use 1 device (macbook/mac mini) to administer the iPads and cannot switch to another device if that one dies SO MAKE A FULL DISK BACKUP! What we ended up doing was giving me an old macbook pro (i did advise a cheap mac mini as it would have to be taken out of circulation) that only I use and it's locked away in my office and its sole job is updating iPads. If you want more info PM me and i'll talk you though it. Edited October 14, 2014 by Pyroman 1

PEO Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Someone needs to actually make an idiot guide as I've given up. Never experienced pain like enrolling to VPP
Joanne Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 I did a step by step thing on one thread... I'll start a new one and suggest it as a sticky.
